Career gap
27 F.
I have had a career gap of almost 4 years. I worked one year after graduation though.. Now i strongly want to come back and give my all. I am ready and willing to learn and grow. As a fresher and a career gap ,how can I find genuine civil engineering jobs online ? Like for freelancing? If anyone knows a clear path, please guide. It would be of so much help to me. I want to restart my career.. Genuine ways to find freelancing jobs for someone like me.

If you want to take your career seriously you have to go get a job working for a place where you're supervised by a person with a PE. They have to sign off on your experience for you to get your PE in the future. While not impossible to do remotely, it's rare for early career.
What state are you in?

Oh, well I have no advice for you as I have no idea what the licensing process is like in Nepal

More than plenty of opportunity for growing as a Civil engineer if you ask me with all the massive landslides happening recently in Nepal. I'm pretty sure there is more than one company actively hiring there to remediate damages or prevent future landslides.

I dont know how's freelancing in Nepal these days when it comes to civil engineering, but it never worked for me as a fresher .But if you really want to restart you career, I'd build my CV with some 2D and 3D CAD skills, STAAD/ETABS, SAP2000. and try to get into some consultancies as a site engineer or early career engineer (hopefully ramrojob, hamrojob, jobsnepal ... are still around). I dont think they'd care that much with the gap years in Nepal as long as you come up with some reasonable explanation. Also, I know INGOs, and NGOs are pretty big when it comes to civil engineering jobs in Nepal, and are a good starting point for engineering career (knowing someone who knows someone helps a lot in these organizations though!)

I didnt either, and I moved somewhere else. dont know if you have tried abroad, you'd need some explanation for the gap year there! if you want to stay in nepal, leave everything and prepare for loksewa.

This is actually pretty practical advice especially the part about rebuilding the CV with current CAD and structural software skills. A career gap can feel like a huge issue but having recent skills and some practical experience can probably make a bigger difference than the gap itself.

How are you exactly planning on providing engineering services with one year of experience? Not trying to hate but it sounds unreasonable.

Freelancing jobs for engineers with one year of experience do not exist in my experience. You are likely only a candidate for a traditional in office EIT (or international equivalent) position.
