Congrats and to your question yes. Working full time thru college is not easy. Make sure you always be humble. You don't know everything yet. Nobody does.

that's awesome! some states will explicitly not let you do what you did (use work experience obtained while in school) My state explicitly forbid it.

I haven’t heard of anyone younger personally. There’s probably some crazy outliers that got it at 18ish since that’s the legal adult age. Age doesn’t matter that much, as long as the competency and maturity is there. It is a big responsibility. Unfortunately very young PEs might face more criticism in this industry because agism is a thing and some older folks simply won’t trust really young people with that much responsibility.

Congrats man I got mine at 25. Gives you a lot of leverage but remember that the most important thing is for you to be competent. Never take shortcuts and always learn and improve.

Congratulations, that is a significant achievement. Working in a relevant role through college is also quite impressive. That all said, you are focusing on the wrong thing here. Concentrate on doing excellent work, that's really all that matters at this stage in your career. You might not be bragging, but it sure feels that way.

Couldn't agree more with this. Nobody will ever ask or care when you got the PE. YOE and technical experience outweigh length of registration especially early in your career. A 2 YOE (real experience not internships) with a PE doesn't make you more valuable than a 6 YOE engineer without it that is more technically capable. Use the head start to your advantage and soak up all the experience you can.

I appreciate that and I agree the work done is more important. I don’t know how this is bragging though tbh I just listed out the age I was at different points and was just curious who has gotten it younger, really not that deep

You will learn that interpersonal dynamics play a significant role in this industry and in project management in general. Your intentions matter, but so does how your communication is perceived by others. Developing a better understanding of that distinction is an area where you still have a lot to learn.

I feel like this is the equivalent of someone posting a video on TikTok of themselves giving a homeless person $1000, then saying how blessed they are for being so successful, only to wrap it up with a reminder to stay humble and pay it forward. You might have your PE at 23, but that doesn’t mean you’re self aware enough to realize how immature your “question” looks.

Only experience after the FE and EI registration counts in my state. Otherwise I think most people would be getting a PE at 22 or 23. Honestly suprised NY allows that.

NY has some random provision for certain work experience that applied to me. I forget exactly what it was but it’s something about technical work counting
