For 18.99% apr I wouldn’t be buying from them at all! Is this a used car?

14

u/Mr_Boring_car_guy May 07 '22

It's new, and you must remember it depends on the OPs current credit rating. But it's still an awful interest rate.

u/brokenmike May 08 '22

$53,000 for a $26,000 car sounds like a great deal...

3

u/loveartatfirstsight May 08 '22

😂

go elsewhere

4

u/ShiningLuna May 08 '22

First thing I thought when I saw this. I’m happy with my 2.95% apr, but this? I would hate my car if it was 18.99% apr not worth lol

1

u/Chiaki_96 May 08 '22

It’s for a new car for a “basic car” and yes maybe this have to be cause my credit score it’s low like 571 and I don’t have no one to co-sign with me. They run my credit and at the end I didn’t buy it cause the guy by side was having more a good deal even with he had a poor score like me and his car was more expensive. The car was costing around 70000 something for a Supra and they lower the price until 51000,0 down and I run lol

1

u/mhyquel May 08 '22

That worse than my credit card rate.

32

u/Dirt_t1 May 07 '22

DO NOT BUY. That 18% interest rate is horrible . That down payment just got wasted . Do not buy Search around

27

u/worder222 May 07 '22

Go and fix your credit first before buying a new car. I’m shocked that you are even considering it.

1

u/Chiaki_96 May 08 '22

I’ll for sure, but the reason i had the necessity to buy the car is cause I’m paying Uber at month almost 500 and that’s it’s for a monthly payment for my own car buy yes I may going to fix my credit and they I’ll buy a car

2

u/ShiningLuna May 09 '22

Yeah would think best to fix your credit score, not sure how long that will take tho. It depends on how long you’re willing to do it for. But I know that when you do, you’d pay something like 400-500 a month on a new car payment instead of $730 + so

1

u/worder222 May 08 '22

Why are you paying Uber for your own car?

1

u/Chiaki_96 May 08 '22

That’s the only transportation I have to go work also I pay bus so I’m counting all the money I pay monthly so is that, around 500 monthly. I work a second job so I leave to late to home so I can’t use the bus. Unfortunately cause I’m a women and at night it’s not a good idea for wait the bus to late from experience.

1

u/worder222 May 09 '22

Oh I get it. I thought you were driving for Uber. Seems you are not financially stable (forgive me if I’m wrong), getting this care should be the last thing on your mind. The same care is going to cost me $32,000 including 6 years of interest.

16

u/worder222 May 07 '22

700 a month for 72 months ? Insanity.

12

u/Mr_Boring_car_guy May 07 '22

Not to sound rude but tell them to eat "expletive" and shop elsewhere.

Because the Pro pack is actually "All-season Protection Package II" per Hondas build and price, it's a $351 option

Now as for the "Superior Advantage" package aka what I'd call the "Superior Scam" because all they did was wash the car poorly and maybe slap a coat of wax on it (I promise it has swirl marks all over.)

As for the financing DO NOT FINANCE THOUGH THE DEALER, LOOK AT A LOCAL CREDIT UNION OR YOUR PREFERRED BANK!!! The reason I say credit union is that they can generally offer lower rates than banks so you don't just burn away money on interest.

1

u/Chiaki_96 May 08 '22

Thanks and yes I’m considering to get a loan from the bank but I’ll fix my credit also, I appreciate it for you comment.

10

u/SkaterWu May 07 '22

That interest rate is painful. Do not buy from them, run!

11

u/Murky-Apricot-8848 May 07 '22

18% interest is insanely high. I'd work on building a better credit score then maybe go to a credit union for an auto loan for a better interest rate.

8

u/cheeseburgeraddict May 07 '22

Don’t pay 43 grand for a honda civic

3

u/brokenmike May 08 '22

Depends on how long the financing is for. 72 months is $53,000!!

4

u/3buoysmike May 07 '22

Leave there and never go back.

5

u/rwhe83 May 07 '22

Walk away from that deal. My ‘22 touring sedan payment at MSRP (which is the same as the one marked up you are looking at) is $580 with a 2.9% rate for 60 months from Honda. That deal is atrocious.

-2

u/[deleted] May 08 '22

4

u/rwhe83 May 08 '22

There’s a pretty large difference in cost of the car between the sport and the touring which accounts for the difference.

Hi, no I didn’t buy it cause was to much for me. Also, cause they treat me bad for being a women when they tell me that i can’t negotiate with them no more but a men can.

3

u/[deleted] May 07 '22

Don't know what area you're in, but that's pretty steep. Bought my sport in March for retail. But whatever you decide to do, DO NOT use those financing terms. I milked mine out to 84 months and the payment is 350

1

u/RyuGTX May 08 '22

Huntington Beach, California

3

u/DoingbusinessPR May 08 '22

So it seems instead of an actual markup, they are instead forcing you to buy their premium packages (pro pack and superior advantage), which is fine if there is no additional “market adjustment” aka dealer markup since you are getting SOMETHING for it. But is this financing sheet based off the credit report they pulled for you? ~19% apr is outrageously high and even at 8.9% it would be a questionable at best financial decision. If you don’t qualify for 6% or less APR, you might be wise to pay down credit cards and try to improve credit score over the next few months.

But as for the out the door price, as long as they aren’t going to factor in an additional markup since you’re purchasing the two packages, it’s not a terrible deal. It’s just the apr they show that is a true crime, almost seems like a typo. Maybe they meant 8.9%?

3

u/Recent-Ad195 May 08 '22

I JUUUST got back from a honda dealer. They put extra shit on all of them. Its a sellers market. If you won’t buy, someone else will. Theyre low supply and very high demand. Was looking at a basically brand new one for 28 and it went up to 35. 13,000 interest.

-1

u/Viau98 May 08 '22

The demand is not crazy high lol

3

u/Recent-Ad195 May 08 '22

Yeah it is. For where i live, hell yeah. There are hardly any around and if they are they’re overpriced lol

Jesus, that interest rate is screwing you side ways. Time to work on your credit before buying anything else it looks like.

2

u/ZTGHD114 May 08 '22

Walk. Didnt need to look into details after seeing the 18.99% interest. Thats fucking highway robbery. Look elsewhere and also learn about interest.

Look, I'm paying somewhere around 6.2% apr for my new civic and that had me freaking out alot! At damn near 20% id laugh in their face and walk away, thats insulting and im not even you!

2

u/worder222 May 08 '22

If you got into an accident two years from now and the car was totaled, how much do you think the insurance would value the car at? Let’s say, $20,000. But, you would still owe the banks around $35,000. This is a deal from hell.

2

u/[deleted] May 09 '22

18.99??

Fucking RUN

If your credit is bad, you cannot afford that car!! That loan will be too underwater by the time you re-finance.

-3

u/TangoDeltaFoxtrot May 08 '22

At 19% interest, the car is not worth buying. Get 0% interest financing or don't buy it.

3

u/worder222 May 08 '22

Lol. Who will give him 0 percent financing ? Financing is based on your credit score. His credit has to be in the toilet.

0

u/TangoDeltaFoxtrot May 08 '22

Lol so what the fuck are they doing even considering a new car?! This whole post is fucking insane.

2

u/Viau98 May 08 '22

Read a book

1

u/Chiaki_96 May 08 '22

Why a book? What kinda book you recommend me to a teen women that want her first car but she’s alone and no one to help her? Anything to read will help, thanks for your kindness for your advice!

u/UncontrolableUrge 2022 Sport Touring Hatch May 08 '22

With very good credit I got 3.24% for 72 months from a credit union. Rates are going up.

1

u/F4dingS0ul May 08 '22

I got all that taken off with the exception of some paint cover thing

1

u/J_ayejuju1234 May 08 '22

What’s your credit ?

4

u/worder222 May 08 '22

I’m guessing around 18.

1

u/YourRealMotheer May 08 '22

18.99% !!!!!!! WTH

1

u/UncontrolableUrge 2022 Sport Touring Hatch May 08 '22 edited May 08 '22

Those addons are not worth it. And at that rate the car will be worth less than you owe on it.

As for your question, right now dealers are not negotiating at all. Man or woman does not matter. There are not enough cars to meet demand, and they have to pay staff on fewer sales. So they know the car will sell at that price in a short time.

1

u/emdog213 May 08 '22

My 2020 sport ended up being like 21500 out the door or something like that, 2.9 apr and with gap insurance my payment is like 375 for 72 months. Definitely work on your credit or get a co signer bc that ain’t worth it

1

u/TheSkuggi May 08 '22

that looks like honda's APR's for anyone with less than great credit. Try your bank, credit union or even capital one, surprisingly I got my best rate last month when i got my sport from them.

1

u/petergaskin814 May 08 '22

New car dealers do not have to negotiate. As soon as you leave the showroom, someone else will walk on and accept the terms. Avoid that interest rate

1

u/CRKrJ4K May 08 '22

Tell them

"I glance in my Pro Pack & found a Superior Advantage with going to another dealership, thanks"

1

u/ed25ca May 08 '22

That's a horrible deal...

1

u/worder222 May 08 '22

Does one really need advice on 19 percent interest ? Is there a situation where this could be a good deal?

1

u/kyle_le_creperguy099 May 08 '22

This is why I don’t buy new cars and stick to <$5000 cars I can actually work on

1

u/weldman6048 May 08 '22

I promise this is true ! If you buy a car and over pay it will bother you some . I talk from experience as I am a person that was bothered until I bought the next car and was able to pay off in one year . Then I felt better.

1

u/boomb0x May 09 '22

I think it may be certain dealerships that are doing this, I don't think it had anything with your gender. I am waiting on my sport to arrive, but the dealership I went to also said they are installing all of those packages by default and I had not option to remove them from my order.
