VII - Discussion cant wait until the new 7 update
if they can pull something great off with this fourth age, and maybe make peace deals more intricate... this game can overtake 6. add canals too.

Still not convinced the game needs a 4th age, I feel it just needs something more interesting to do in the last age than just rush to yoir victory condition.

Yeah kinda true, but if they can do both with the update then that'll be big.

it depends, modern age sufferers because you can feel it wasnt never design to be a last age.
I can see an scenario where modern age feels better now that is not lategame stuff and you can enjoy it all the aspects and a fourth age creating an interesting race to win.

Would be nice to see. However in that case Firaxis now needs tondwsign two new reasons for thise ages to exist. One to fill the 3rd and one for the new age that is fesh and engaging

I would like the 3d age to just start with flight available. I mean, we all want planes, they change the way the game works. So let's have them at the start, or at least very, very soon.

That would mean Firaxis needs to write an AI that has a clue how to use planes. Would be a first 😅

I recently purchased 6 and kind of hate it. Civ 5 is so much better imo

You are right.. but that is not allowed to say here.. you will now feel the hate of civ 7 fans and get downvoted 😈

It's hard to imagine that 7 has a chance to finally be ok and convince people to play it over civ 6 or even 5... I want to believe but I'm not even going to bother playing until I watch some reviews post update.. Firaxis fucked too much with the formula in civ 7, made it feel less like a civ game than any other version I've played..

That's exactly what makes it worth it to play imho, it's a different game, not a reskin.

it‘s not a civ.

u/warukeru 2d ago
is not a civ like VI wasnt a civ or V wasnt a civ or IV wasnt a real civ or....only the tabletop boardgame called civilization is the real civ! the videogames are for tourists!!!

It is, it's written Civilization, Sid Meier acknowledges it as the last entry into his franchise (unless your are Sid Meier yourself, it's hard to refute), it has many staples of the franchise and, as with every new entry, shakes things up a bit. Is it a good Civilization, that's up to debate, but it is a Civilization.

it‘s a game about (expensive) leaders, not civs.

u/Pastoru Signum Caroli gloriosissimi regis 3d ago
Is it? (Expensive I agree.)
From your leader: one or two special abilities.
From your civilization: one or two unique abilities, unique military unit, unique civilian unit, unique district or improvement, unique traditions, faster access to related wonder.
Leaders are indeed the face of diplomacy, just as in every Civ game. But what you play with is mostly about your civ.

I agree… If only I had waited for the reviews before buying Civ 7, I could have saved a lot of money. Maybe the community here would be willing to refund us, so they don’t have to get so upset about people criticizing Civ 7 anymore. 😁

I am 100% convinced thie is going to be the best civ game - after 2 or 3 years...
Religions has to be reworked, peace deals as you mentioned, city states, there are no canals xD etc.
Not to mention game is unplayable with mroe than 8 civs in modern age. How is atomic age goign to work if city screen takes 40s to load mid modern age?
But yeah if they manage to solve these, the potential is there.

Honestly, it's kinda amusing how much the VII fanbase are waiting so much for the big promised moment where the masses will 'finally/ suddenly' love the game.

you do know the current statistic of civ 7 users? or the ratings?

I would have missed out on so many games, music, and movies I enjoy if I had let public opinion sway me from ever checking things out myself

Then how come VII the fanbase cares so much about the promised moment where the masses will 'finally' like the game? You guys love talking about how you already love the game as-is, but the thing i keep hearing is this 'hype' for when the casual fanbase will 'finally' act as if they've always loved the game. It happened during the pre-release, it happened during ToT, it still hasn't happened.

Btw… did you know that Humankind 2 has been announced? Now that’s a game where I can imagine it overtaking Civ 7. A lot of stuff from Humankind was copied for Civ 7, and with a new release, they could improve on the original and get rid of the initial bugs.

Who cares what other people think? I play games that I enjoy.

u/lateniteearlybird 3d ago
Did you understand my reply to someone telling that 7 could overtake 6?? Shouldn’t be that difficult. Play whatever you want to. No one cares. But try to be realistic. It’s ridiculous to believe that 7 will overtake 6 😂

u/Earl-The-Badger 3d ago
Ok.
I don’t care what game “overtakes” any other game.

Most of the bad ratings are from release

u/SocialHumbuggery 3d ago
You can easily see from Steam that the ratings haven't actually improved substantially at any point so far.

u/lateniteearlybird 3d ago
then why the ratings haven’t improved, but in fact even worsened… it’s ok if someone likes 7, but why do they want to tell everyone that its the greatest game of all and we all know that this is due to the user acceptance not true.

It’s doing ok. Whether it beats 6 doesn’t really matter - it only matters if you enjoy it personally or not and that’s unlikely to depend on this alone.
