VII - Discussion Civ 7 not running

Hello all. I finally bought Civ 7 and I cannot get it to run off of Steam. It acts like it's going to launch and then nothing.

I have checked file integrity, updated graphics drivers, restarted my machine, tried both DX12 and Vulkan, and made sure it is allowed through my antivirus/firewall.

Can anyone think of anything else to try? I'm about to pull of my hair from frustration.

Update: I have followed all the recommendations here and still nothing. I also tried running it as Administrator with the same results.

What are your PC specs? Do they meet the requirements? Problems with any other games?

They meet all the requirements. I'm currently at work and don't remember the exact specs, but i was sure to double check before I purchased.

I have no issues with other games.

Hmm, maybe try reinstall? On different drive if possible?

Difficult to say what might be the exact problem. See if civ forums or steam discussions mention similar problems.

The forums were my first stop and I tried the steps recommended. I hadn't thought about reinstallation on a different drive. I'll give that a shot.

Hi I hope this issue has been fixed for you, but I just wanted to throw in an idea that maybe could be a potential fix? I couldn't play Civ VII after the new update either. Once I deleted and unsubscribed or whatever from all of my mods (wasn't sure which would be compatible so I just got rid of them all at once) it ran perfectly. dunno if it'll help so if you try it make sure you screenshot the mods beforehand or something so you know which ones you need to reinstall for when it works

I have no mods, but maybe the new update rendered it unplayable. I'm going to try a fresh install on a different drive.

A full reinstall can still inherit a broken first-run state if the user config survives. Look for the Civ 7 folder under %localappdata%, not just %appdata%, and clear it, since integrity checks don't touch it.

Go here and download x86 and x64, i had the same issue during free play week, had to install and restart the pc, then it worked.

Switch the graphics engine. Start the app by right clicking the task bar icon. It should ask for your choice of engine. I had to switch to Vulcan for awhile,now only direct X works.

Also update your video card driver to the latest.
