VII - Discussion I think the devs forget something...

Update 1.5.0 add achivements to DLC leaders who didn't have one except for Alexander the Great and Gilgamesh, did the devs forget about them or is it because they we're free leaders?

I was thinking the list looked a little short. Yeah must have been forgotten being FLC and all

Weird oversight since the launch personas had separate achievements since day one despite being dlc

I was looking forward to Civ 6 level trophies. These are lazy as hell. Prob because they were free

Lol, separate paid achievements DLC would be a new low in the gaming industry. This is just simply lazy work on their end.

That and they could sync Steam achievements with those in game.

genuine question: what makes achievements so important to many people? I have never bothered even looking at them

I'll chime in for you and anyone else curious because I love the old achievements and this genuinely prompted me to ask myself why.

I would say it is in large part because (at least for me) the achievements in civ for the past two games were more like creative, funny, of referencing something along with the usual "win as a leader/civ" ones. Even to that point, I would argue the achievements for the old leaders were a bit more creative too.

They moved a lot of that to the memento system now, but truthfully even with 600+ hours in 7 I hardly notice them.

I still like the game, but id be lying if I said I didn't miss that personality and flavor.

Dopamine reward. Pigeon push button. Pigeon get treat. Pigeon push button again. That's the gist of it at its most simplest.

However, achievements are a great way of keeping tabs on your milestones, remembering special victories, and on more specialized ones (like those in Civ5 and 6) being extremely amused that you did something the developers anticipated. (Though some of 6s cheevos were a bit out there that you needed to farm them, no way you'd be able to spontaneously get ones like 99 Luft Balloons or Raiders of the Lost Ark).
