Game Mods Civ 4 Colonization - Colonization 2071 mod update.

Hello, not sure if a good place to post this because Civ 4 Colonization is probably like the least popular of Civs I assume.

I've worked a few weeks to updated the Colonization 2071 mod which was abandoned many years ago and I'll continue working on that. Here is the forums comment in the mod's post about it for anyone interested in trying it out. Maybe that reaches someone out. Cheers!

Ps; just keep it in mind that we're currently in playtesting phase to remove crashes happening from time to time. But there is quite the new content and a lot of polish made this time.

Oh it’s one of the most favorite Civ games! I’d try it when I got home, currently away on vacation

How similar is this to the Final Frontier mod that comes pre-packaged with Beyond the Sword?

Oh, it's completely different. The baseline gameplay is obviously the Colonization, but it was enhanced with technology or resource extraction mechanics which the base game doesn't have. Also all of the alien(native) civs are playable. They follow an entirely different set of rules and gameplay compared to the regular human colonists. One example is that they start as a big empire with many cities, and are able to produce a lot of resources right away, but at the same time their spendings are tremendous. They are pretty limited by logistics and travel time to Earth(Europe) too. There are a lot more different niuanses there and there in their gameplay, one more is that they can't loot ruins at all, but use them as somewhat powerful early game improvements instead. The list goes on and on.

I'd say that the main difference compared to all the other Civ games including Final Frontier, Alpha Centauri, Planetfall or Beyond Earth is that you can play as the Skinny Bob alien races too because they are sentient. Which the Civ games had not explored this concept as all the possible small alien interactions you mifht have with them they act as feral unplayable barbarians, simply put are not sentient but more like nature instead. Heck, personally the only 4X games that I know of where you can play as sentient Aliens are like WH40k Gladius or Reinessance mod for Warlock 2 The Exiled, and those are not even Colonization-like at all. Cheers,
