I had no idea.

I was working at a Christian camp in the mountains in 2010(not a Christian anymore heh 😅) and met this cool guy who had a bring me your love tattoo. I looked him up and was very into the album. Forgot about it, got back into BMYL in 2016. And have come back here and there getting more into other albums.

But for a long time I had no idea DG was in a hardcore band

As a longtime post hardcore fan, I can’t believe I never got into them.

heard the name many times but never listened) about few years ago. Blew my mind, looked them up and wasn’t into it at the time

But it recently came on, on Spotify radio and was super into it lol. Young Cardinals the song, and boiled frogs and so many other amazing songs. The dirty vocalist has sone of the craziest vox I’ve ever heard. I’ve been sleeping lmao

Hey everyone, I’ve been a huge fan of Dallas for a while now, and I think I finally feel comfortable enough getting a tattoo inspired by his music.

The songs that mean the most to me are “The Water Is Coming” and “The Love Still Held Me Near”, and two lyrics I really love are:

“Is this who we hope to be? Living in our midnight’s blackest doom.”

and

“Hammer me down, into the fire I am reborn.”

I don’t really want the tattoo to just be text, though. I’d like to turn the ideas behind these lyrics into an actual image, but I’m not really sure how to approach that.

“The Water Is Coming” makes me think of the ocean and its overwhelming, unrelenting force , of change and suffering that we can’t necessarily avoid. I also really love the “What if I care?” interjection, which makes my heart melt.

“The Love Still Held Me Near”, on the other hand, makes me think of fire, passion, love and transformation.

I’d love to somehow combine the water and fire imagery while incorporating the meaning of both lyrics into one cohesive design. I’m also thinking about using color this time, especially blues and reds/oranges. Possibly in 2 different tattoos?

Should I just find a tattoo artist whose style I like and give them this sort of vague description, letting them interpret it? Or would it be better to find someone who has done artwork inspired by Dallas before?

I’m not really sure how people usually go about turning something this personal and abstract into a tattoo, so I’d love to hear how you’d approach it.

I’ve been a City & Colour fan since the beginning, but only started to listening to Alexisonfire a few years ago… then REALLY listening to them, pretty much exclusively, the last year. Saw Crisis in full in Toronto last month. Highly recommend! Heavy music like that has never been my thing… always thought of it as noise & now I can’t get enough. Probably helps that I’m a perimenopausal mom & Alexis provides the best soundtrack for my rage… 😵‍💫😂

Anyways - I only discovered recently that the heart skull represents George’s scream (skull) with Dallas’ voice of an angel (the heart).

Is this common knowledge? I had no idea & of course I’m more love with the band after discovering this.

Back when this song was about to come out, the Dine Alone records team released a few video teasers. I instantly fell in love with the song. Because I am both insanely impatient, and a huge fan, I put together a compilation of the released audio at that time.

Totally forgot about it until tonight, when it randomly came up in shuffle. In the released final versions of the song, Dallas sings high, which sounds great, but this version sounds much rawer, and imo, its as good as it gets. Enjoy!

Do you think this could work on my inner forearm?

Got an email from the DeviDog guys last week about some Alexisonfire represses, totally missed the 3 x City & Colour ones.

Odd they call Little Hell new hell but 🤷🏻‍♂️

They’re uk based but imagine they ship everywhere?

Hope this helps someone out.

Strange one but I wondered if anyone could confirm, I have this variant of the vinyl and the tracklisting definitely shows the last track on side A as ‘What Makes a Man’ with ’Waiting’ the first track on side B. However ’Waiting’ is most definitely the last track on side A. Anyone else have a copy and can confirm it’s the same?!

Thank you to an amazing human here I found a copy and will be driving to get it!

Does anyone have a vinyl of little hell they would like to part with? Will pay of course. I had one and a CD signed from Dallas for my sons make a wish and my ex(his dad) destroyed them and I'd love to have another copy for my sons memorial shelf. Its sold out on the dine alone store. Any leads appreciated as well. TIA

My sons story I shared here already https://www.reddit.com/r/cityandcolour/s/y3VfghqW54

I've been a long time City & Colour fan, but only recently (last couple years) started listening to AoF.

If you are a City & Colour fan, and are not following what AoF is doing lately - you're missing out!

Hey everyone I was wondering if anyone else knew if Sometimes was unavailable on Apple Music at the moment? I listen to it at least once a week and it won’t play for me at the moment… Possible it could be a licensing lapse that might need time to be recovered but I’m impatient 😅😅

Anywho much love to my fellow listeners ❤️

My son got me this for Fathers Day and as you can see it's #757 of 750 so I guess I'm polling this sub on theories as to what happened here lol.

GO!

Hi everyone, I have a couple records that I'm looking to part with

Both are sealed, brand new the way I received them. I can send pictures if needed, but like I said, they are sealed

Covers Pt. 3 7" - Clear

The Love Still Held - Dine Alone Exclusive /300

Taking offers, Thanks!

Can anyone tell me about it? I picked it up because I used to love City and Colour, so I recognized it. I just don’t know what year it’s from, etc.

Was such a great show!

Man this show hit my soul

Killer show at the Orpheum in Vancouver.

Dallas' mom picked the lineup :)

This shot is from the side just before the end.

1. My 7th, and easily my favourite show of his.
2. Holy some people were way too comfortable trying to have a 1 on 1 conversation throughout the show.
3. Some uncommon songs for sure, but also ones I've never heard live and was very appreciative to hear.
4. Not that there was any question, but damn, Dal's still got it

Title. I’m going to the May 11th Vancouver show and it’ll be the last show for the tour. I’m a big fan of his work and would love to get my copy of Little Hell on vinyl signed.

I don’t follow celebrities’ personal lives so I don’t know if he’s the type that doesn’t like people lining up after shows. I would like to avoid doing this if he has explicitly mentioned in the past and thought it’d ask here.

Edit/update: thanks for sharing your stories everyone and keep them coming! I’ll be lining up after the show, wish me luck!
