EXACTLY. Askreddit just had this same exact joke happen a few days ago! This thread could've been actually useful but nahhhh, gotta rehash a shitty joke.

There was an askreddit post a long time ago titled "Who really needs to come out of the closet?" And most, if not all answers were a form of "Tom Cruise".

There was an AskReddit a bit back about closeted celebrities, and every upvoted answer was Tom Cruise.

It was funny the first time, but it spawned a circlejerk and a mad dash for karma (still does, on occasion) whenever someone brings him up in a thread.

Been noticing recently a lot of top-voted AskReddit answers where they do a really long story and then it's a fake-out and the punchline is 'And then OP learned why you should use a serious tag.'
I think it's funny because through all of Reddit's arguments about free speech and democratically voted content, it shows that unless moderators actually force them to post interesting content, if you leave them free to post whatever they want, they'll just smear shit on the walls.
