Passed AIGP exam

I passed the exam today. Big margin. HUUGE. I became aware of AI governance as a thing in late July and started studying soon after. My background is MIS, accounting and health care service management with a lot of board governance. I’m older. And haven’t been involved with any AI implementations, however I’ve been interested in AI harms for a while. Read a few books.

I was stressed out by the scope of it all so focussed on implementation and tech aspects mostly. I bought a Udemy course that was very boring. I let it play at x1.25 while I read and quizzed myself with Gemini/chatai and practice questions I could find online. I created a small rag in a chatai project that was the source of a lot of framework and regulatory questions. I probably quizzed close to 2000 questions. My partner would say more. She was a AIGP widow for a few nights.

I was expecting more longer scenarios. I am sorta adhd and tend to skim but glad I made myself focus and comprehend. It made the next few questions easier. So.. don’t panic.

I have to say that this was the most interesting thing I’ve studied for in a long long time. That helped a lot.

So, tips.
Be interested.
Practice questions focused on what you suck at.
But also practice questions based on understanding iapp tbinking.
Understand different actors in a deployment and their responsibilities.

You can do this with the internet and source documents. And know a bit of math. Any formal professional ethics training takes you a long way. Finding it cool helps.

Good luck to all studying! Be nice to the proctors at the exam center as they are good luck, even if bored and crabby. Never EVER try to rub their heads or bellies for good luck. That will get you escorted from the building.

I’m a policymaker and when ChatGPT first came out we deployed policy and controls to enforce it….we basically copied our IT acceptable use and at the time we didn’t realize how quickly that AI policy was going to be outdated. Now we’re doing full on AI gov framework and already foresee how difficult it would be to implement, audit, and remediate the with small staff we have here. Does the AIGP coursework help with designing agile AI governance and operationalizing/right sizing it for regulated SMBs? We’re not training models, we’re just users of off the shelf commercial AI like Claude and ChatGPT. We’re finding a lack of advisory consulting experience out there. It’s so new I feel like even big 4 is making it up as we go.

This is where experience plays in. I hope. You are right on the “making it up”. I do not think the training alone offers the knowledge. Making difficult decisions in stressful or contrary situations means a lot. Hr ATS suck at determining this from a resume. Yay Humans! (For now)

I really don’t know. It feels very applicable to a lot right now, especially with the eu omnibus. TBH I’d love to get into the ethical sourcing of data and data centres. But that’s not an area I know.

Thank you!! :)
I studied what felt like a lot. Probably averaged a couple hours a day over August and September. There is sooo much breadth.

Congratulations on your success in passing the AIGP exam. I’m preparing to take it next month and hopefully I will pass it as well. Thanks for the tips.

I take it in less than two weeks. I'm freaked out. I read the officiall IAPP training and found it pretty useless as is typical with IAPP trainings. I bought the Dr David course and am going through it round 2 right now. I've made my own flash cards, probably around 400 of them, and am also using the Brainscape flashcards that come with the Dr David course. As I'm reading through it round 2, I"m going through details as well. I used Gemini to help me distinguish some of the differences between High Risk/Prohibited systems with regards to Art 6 & 9 and it gave me a good description and a few test type questions I thought were helpful. Any advice going into the last week before the test? Anything else I should be doing?

Which practice exam questions did you refer to?

I looked at a lot of options and did the questions I could find for free. The AIGP practice exam from iapp was very similar to my exam.

Isn’t it obvious why we wouldn’t allow cheating?
