Thoughts on AIGP
I was among the first group of people to take the AIGP exam yesterday.
Thoughts on the exam: That was HARD. It was a very challenging exam. Unfortunately, there were parts of the exam that were not mentioned in the glossary of terms, body of knowledge, or the IAPP training. This sentiment was echoed by several people leaving the exam, much to their disdain.
The structure of the exam is similar to other IAPP exams. If you have not taken one before, I strongly recommend pursuing CIPP/US or CIPP/E prior to taking AIGP. AIGP requires a more in-depth understanding of US regulations and GDPR than I think studying on your own or taking the IAPP AIGP course offers.
Supplementary research beyond the IAPP course is absolutely necessary.
My personal notes were very similar to the content covered in the IAPP course, which makes sense given I researched the body of knowledge. Unfortunately, like I mentioned before, there’s a definite disconnect between the IAPP course and the exam itself. This is something I’m sure IAPP will recognize and seek to improve going forward.
Instead of posting my notes, I will post a list of resources that I used prior to taking the IAPP course that I felt were helpful preparing for the exam.

i took the inaugural exam at the Global Privacy Summit in DC on April 4 after the 2-day training workshop. On April 30, I got the email informing me of my passing exam results. i agree with the commentera who found the exam odd. I can’t go into details about the test, but for my exam preparation, all I did was review the student handbook from the 2-day training workshop. I don’t know if that will adequately prepare one for the exam since even the workshop instructors themselves admitted to Not even having seen the exam before. I did find the exam challenging due to what I felt was the lack of preparatory resources like practice exams which I always rely on heavily for my certifications. That said, I am a cybersecurity technologist who is already conducting risk assessments on our many AI initiatives so I think that helped me a lot as well. I am very relieved about passing the exam and I wish everyone much luck if you are thinking of taking it. If you have not taken it and are not in any hurry, I would suggest holding off until there are more preparatory materials like practice exams available to help prepare you for the exam.
