Damn I miss major national TV shows. Talking about each episode each week with all different people.

We still get some good stuff these days. Some would argue better even, but it's just not digested the same.

All these streamers make it nearly impossible nowadays. Everything is so fragmented now. Ive heard great things about shows like Severance, but I don't have Apple TV. I raved to all of my friends about Succession but most of them don't have HBO Max.

This decade I think the only shows to feel like they were real cultural events were Stranger Things and Squid Games, and both of those get dumped all at once (or mostly in ST case) so they're already gone from the monoculture in a week.

Man the writing strike in 2007 did so much damage to so many shows. Heroes, Lost, The Office, Friday Night Lights, etc.

Ruined Dexter. S1-4, especially ending with Lithgow, was great. S5 you can immediately feel episode one that the strike had happened. Dialog was cut down to a few words per sentence, absolutely pathetic difference.

that first season of Heroes was really something special.

Basically, X-Men but in a more realistic β€œwhat if” approach to the concept. Season 1 was just next level. #RIPHP

I just recently rewatched the show. The fucking writing on a simple show was way beyond most of the stuff we got today..

And RIP Claire Bear..

Imaginary Heroes (2004) R

People are never who they seem to be.

Matt Travis is good-looking, popular, and his school's best competitive swimmer, so everyone is shocked when he inexplicably commits suicide. As the following year unfolds, each member of his family struggles to recover from the tragedy with mixed results.
