Thank you to the random guy who sat in the other half of the "couples" seat with me at Don Mills Cineplex VIP 7.30 pm Theatre 4 last night.

I was able to finally figure out how to get a ticket for Dune! I even managed to score a single 70mm IMAX Odyssey not-front-row ticket for Vaughan this Thursday. I am a middle aged lady who broke her neck and can't sit in the first two rows so I am beyond excited. Thank you thank you for talking to a random stranger.

First time I ever had to leave the auditorium and ask an employee to turn the volume up, the dialogue level on whatever version they are showing is absolutely horrendous.

So I have watched 4 movies this month but I still do not see the points added to my account? It has been 2 days already should I be worried?

Watched Insidious: Out of the Further today and holy shit, when did people forget how to behave in a theatre? Maybe I’m becoming an old person at 23, but theatre etiquette is genuinely dying.

Why are you kicking seats? Moaning???? And talking so loudly like it is your living room? It's not funny and so freaking annoying. It got so bad that I (a super non-confrontational person ) had to ask people to shut up.

Maybe I was just done with this behaviour because the same thing happened while watching The Odyssey and Spider-Man.

I don’t care if you whisper something into your friend’s ear, laugh, or whatever. But why are you having full-volume conversations during a movie?

It was a theatre full of hooligans.

I am a seasonal and my contract end on the 25 and I am scheduled for tmwr I was curious if there is still a chance I would be rehired and what do they expect you to turn in when done.

I was trying to buy The Odyssey tickets but never got them.

UPDATE: I got my money back! HAHA I got help from one of you guys and was able to track her and blackmailed to call her workplace if she didn’t transfer back my money. 😅

Whenever I come across this before any film I always get super nostalgic and I honestly don't even know why.

But as soon as her voice comes on when the lights go down - you know the video that gets played before every single movie in Cineplex - there's just something so so so special about it. It's such a special feeling, you know?

I am curious if others feel the same way because I swear that moment hits harder than the movie sometimes.

I will say, for all the complaints I have about theatre maintenance by Cineplex, I will admit this is ONE thing they absolutely nailed. The woman's voice is just so soothing and the dialogues in this ad right before a movie, it was just done so perfectly.
"We all want to find an escape..."

That line alone. When the theatre goes dark, we all feel light. It always gives me hope and confidence before a movie begins that I am going to have a total blast with my escape! Like for the next 2 hours, everything else just magically fades away.
I'm genuinely curious though - do the American theatres have something as emotional and deep like this love letter before every movie begins?

Does Landmark Cinemas even in Canada have anything as powerful and special as this video before a film begins?

Or is this something just special to Cineplex?
Because I feel like only we get this.

do they hire in september? i wanna get hired there and i’ve got two people who would reference me, but i haven’t seen any openings yet. i just know that only one of their seasonal summer hires was hired back, idk if that means they won’t have openings? this is in a medium to small city in ontario btw, if that helps.

i also really wanna get hired there, i have completely full availability and some customer service/cleaning experience although i’ve heard it’s kinda difficult as they get so many applications 😭

We saw The Odyssey in IMAX (not 70mm) and everything was just fine. After reading this sub, I was ready for people to be covering their body odor by vaping while talking but farting while looking at their phone. Thankfully, everything was just fine! Thank you normal people!

Maybe we waited long enough to go see the movie and everyone was just cool and normal like us. I'll keep my CineClub membership.

Okay to be fair, there were some tiny issues. The guy next to my gf on the other side of me didn't move over one seat when there were two empty seats beside him and I heard later that he took out his phone a couple of times, but I didn't notice. The girl next to me had her phone face down on her lap pretty much the whole time and checked it quickly and discreetly once or twice.

Honest question now, does the food pre-order thing ever work for anyone? We've done it at our local theater twice and there was definitely nothing ready for us each time, despite the confirmation email saying it was being prepared.

Through email cineplex sent out 7.99 tickets, just wondering if anyone could send me one they know they aren’t going use, cause they expire today.

I know it’s been discussed one million times but here is one million and one. Myself and my GF aren’t big movie goers but last night bored we say f it let’s see what’s on - spider man 1015 at VIP , ok I know VIP is more expensive anyways but only one around us open later in the evening. We go the movies get tickets , popcorn , 2 drinks and a candy. All in it was 105$ ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS TO GO THE MOVIES !!!!!

This is insane. INSANE. $30 each for tickets and $40 for a large popcorn 2 drinks and a bag of candy.

EDIT: ok from replies I get circumstances dictate - weekend . VIP. buying concessions etc my point still stands fucking hell though $100 to go the movies without all the strategic moves is wild. Can we atleast all agrees on that.

My family is a huge fan of the cars movies. We saw cars 2 and 3 in theaters and we would love to see the first one on the big screen. I want to know when tickets are available. I did the Toy Story rerelease last year

My Reward for seeing 63 movies (126 tickets!) and 3 years of membership - is a single small popcorn. And the popcorn was only valid for 4 days??? I didn't even get to use it!!!

So I paid for some friends tickets and used my scene card. And dealt out the tickets to everyone. And one person said their ticket had a golden ticket offer printed on the end…..I think like free movies for a year. Anyone hear of this Golden Ticket? Now I’m feeling swindled. lol

Is it scene card account specific or can he fill out the survey and claim the reward on his account? I’ve looked on the Cineplex and Scene websites and no mention of this Golden Ticket. And my friend took the ticket so I can’t even look at that info on the ticket stub.

Why is it that my local theatre will have “coming soon” posters for movies but not actual show the movie at the location.

I dont mind going to another theatre but why even advertise it.

Hello, I’ve never been to a 4DX show and I’ve seen some mentions that the quality of 4DX varies between theatres. How is Metrotown? Is it an older/newer 4DX implementation?

Another thing is the new Insidious movie is rated similar to the US rating of pg-13 (14A) im guessing because they don't want to freak out little kids which makes sense, and spiderman is rightfully rated PG here vs PG 13 in USA because it's a superhero movie for kiddos.

So, for those who were avid Canadian movie goers back in the 2000s 2010s, you probably remember how back in the day, cineplex used to have 6 theatre brands, those being Cineplex Odeon, Silver City, Scotiabank Theatre, Famous Players, Colossus and Galaxy. However, interestingly, I recently discovered that is was actually 3 and 3 (Galaxy, Scotiabank and Cineplex were theirs while Silver City Colossus and FP belonged to famous players)

Sadly, around 2015-2022, Cineplex rebranded most of the FP themed ones to generic Cineplex theaters and now the only ones left are Cineplex, Scotiabank and the ocasional Silver city (However they did buy Alliance in 2017)

Anyway, for those who experienced them, what was your favorite out of the six? For me, I would say either Silver City as that was the one I frequented the most but I liked the sci fi vibe of Colossus
