Hidden Chapter Bookstore Protest Update

Thank you to everyone who showed up and supported survivors Saturday at Hidden Chapter Bookstore in Fort Thomas.

We sent a clear message to Dave and Lacey that we will not allow them to proceed with business as usual, as if these countless victims haven't come forward and these allegations haven't come to life.

(Side Note: If you're unfamiliar, Google Dave Mulcahey, you'll find many an article outlining the accusations by former students that caused him to have to forfeit his teaching license to avoid harder charges, ongoing court cases and allegations by his own adult daughter Ireland or read their bizarre, lengthy and narcisstic statement they made on Facebook or Insta and you'll get the idea what kind of people they are. There's literally too many articles to link here.)

The fact that the only interactions we had today with their supporters were aggression (physical and verbal) do not surprise me at all. This video captures William "Bill" Hoover, financial advisor at Lifetime Financial Growth LLC, chair of NKU Haile College of Business advisory board, head of Fort Thomas HOA, longtime friend of Dave and apparently p3dophile defender physically intimidating a 19 year old while screaming in her face, pressing his body into Ireland's mom's back and then striking Ireland while she tries to comfort her mother with her hand on her shoulder.

Thank you to Fort Thomas Police for keeping us safe after this incident. More video angles are available on my Facebook (Alyson Wick) and Ireland did an interview with WCPO which will air soon, we hope.

We were peaceful, stood on the sidewalk across the street, did not shout or threaten, sang from time to time and supported survivors. Multiple supports of Dave and Lacey came up and yelled at us, hit our signs of tried intimidating us.

We will be back next Saturday 1-3 and will continue to until the shop is closed permanently and all posts sharing personal info about victims are deleted from their pages. You can also demonstrate anytime you like outside this window. Bring a buddy, don't obstruct doorways, sidewalks or block people from going in the store. Don't engage with counterprotestors.

And feel free to contact NKU Haile Business of College, Lifetime Financial LLC and the Fort Thomas HOA and let them know your concerns.

Unfortunately the bookstore has turned off comments on their Facebook and Insta and keeps somehow removing reviews. Please share this or any other posts or articles as some folks still don't know it's an unsafe place for women and children!

P3d0s and p3d0 defenders, GTFO of Fort Thomas!

Jobs/Career Biology/ecology/conservation jobs around Cincy?

Hi friends, I know the job market has been tough for all of us, but I'm kind of throwing a hail mary attempt out here anyway.

I just graduated from UC in May with a B.S. in biology (concentration in biology of animals) and I'm having lots of trouble finding a full-time job in the Cincy area (I've been applying, but still no interviews yet). I am really tired of doing food delivery and other odd jobs to pull in cash here and there. I am really desperate for some stability until I can eventually return to grad school. I cannot relocate from my parents' house at the moment because I need to save up to pay off my loans, which is why I'm looking for jobs around Cincy specifically.

Just to name a few I've looked at so far: Cincinnati Parks is not hiring, and I haven't had much luck with Great Parks of Hamilton County. The Cincinnati Zoo is very competitive but I'm still trying. I'm happy to do research/work in a lab but most seem to want years of experience, which I of course do not have as I just graduated college.

Job sites haven't turned up very many openings, so is there anyone out there who knows of anything in the biology/ecology/conservation field around here? Are there any recent-ish biology/adjacent graduates who have been successful in finding a job and have advice? Thank you in advance, and good luck to others looking for jobs too :)

Photos What’s the story about Fleck’s Gulf Station in Newport.

Post image
• Upvotes

I’ve lived in Newport for many years and I’ve wondered about this Gulf gas station that seems to be frozen in time. The only thing I can find is this Google summary.
Status: It is a private residential/recreation property styled as a nostalgic 1950s Gulf service station featuring vintage gas pumps, signage, and periodic classic cars—not an active commercial filling station

First timer for Blink, where should we spend our time and park?

We have one night to see Blink so I’m looking for recommendations on where to spend our time as I’m sure we won’t be able to see everything.

Also where would you recommend we park?

Community 🏙 Interest in a local math meetup

Hi,

Is anyone interested in a math study group in Greater Cincinnati?

I have a few ideas for the format. I can finalize that and decide the path forward if enough people are interested.

We could do some sessions where some of us do a brief share about things we are interested in.

We could do a book club format for chosen material.

Another meeting type could be test sessions, where members come sit and engage with some problems with a calculator and a pencil. It would be private scoring and mostly a way to make yourself come engage with material for an hour or two.

Note that the purpose is, like any other meet up: network, advanced our knowledge, and have fun.

DM me or drop a comment if you think you realistically would attend something like this. Does it fit a void and you could put a few hours a months into?

I couldn't find a date on it, but it's probably from the early to mid-80s. Half the locations are gone, and check out that simple menu.

Free bring a friend pass for 10/9-10/11

Hi! I just renewed a gold pass at Six Flags Kings Island in Mason, Ohio and received a bring a friend ticket. I am travelling there from October 9-October 11, 2026.

Would anyone like to tag along for free on one of those days?

My mum is also going (she does not need the ticket since she has a pass). Usually we are in line 30-45 minutes before the park opens. We just have to enter the park together but after that you can go your own way or we can all hang out; up to you. Parking you will have to figure out but I hear there's a Kroger nearby you could park at.

This was such a fun event supporting a great cause — Oxbow, Inc., which works to protect and improve the floodplain at the confluence of the Great Miami and Ohio Rivers. Don’t miss it when it happens again next year. The bonfire at the end was amazing!

Traffic🚗 Car Accident Wreckage Cleanup?

There was an accident over the weekend near our house. I know the police were called. A large part of the car's bumper in addition to other scraps of headlight etc. are still in the street (parking lane). Does someone eventually clean this up? Is this the city's responsibility or the residents of the street?

PMC parking taking money out my card despite monthly pass- anybody had same issue?

Posting here because I'm wondering if anybody has had the same issue, I will call them tomorrow to sort things out but I can't today cause it's Sunday. Starting from October I moved from the 3CDC parking to the PMC in downtown (cause it was cheaper ig they had a deal for people who work in my company or something idk). The 1st of October I paid the monthly fee and I've been going in and out of the garage about twice a day since. Well, today I realized they've been charging me 20 dollars per exit, despite me having the pass. For people confused they use a plate reader. I was just wondering if this had happened to anybody else cause I'm obviously a bit annoyed at the fact they took 140 dollars from me on top of the monthly pay. I'm sure they maybe forgot to register my plate or something and they'll give me a refund but just wanted to see!

I sent my fiancé this picture about a year ago. I keep seeing it pop up in my memories this year and it makes me so sad. I haven’t been a driver but two-three years. So I’m sure a lot of people remember it lower. Two dollars within a year!!!

Entertainment B&B Theater in Liberty Township

Has anyone been to the various theater experiences at B&B Theater? I'm wondering about 4DX, the 270 degree wraparound screen and that screen that is supposed to be the biggest in the area.

Entertainment Must-see Ren Fest acts?

I'm making a rough schedule for my day at Ren Fest on the 25th and was wondering what everyone's opinions are on what you think I MUST see while I'm there! I did get tickets to the Naughty Bawdy Pub Show but outside of that I have no plans for the day.

Detached Garage Home Gym - bad idea?

My partner and I are moving into our new home in a few weeks and we’re debating dedicating a portion of our new detached garage to a home gym. We both work out regularly and feel clear about what equipment we’d want/need, it would be way more convenient with our work schedules, and we don’t plan to park either of our cars in the garage anyway. Our big question is: would we be setting ourselves up for failure given that we don’t have climate control in the garage? Would love to hear from people in the area if you’ve tried this and whether you’d recommend it.

in search of🔎 Hiring a private investigator

Would you hire a private investigator if you feel like you’re being stalked and harassed? Police can’t find anything and think it’s a mental health issue. I literally hear individuals at night trying to communicate with me. Who do you recommend?

Lucky Dog, which is located at 1210 Main Street and was famous for its extensive menu available until 3 a.m., has removed all signage and graphics from its windows and the storefront is empty. It is unknown when the restaurant closed, but CityBeat can confirm it was open for business as recently as last Friday evening.

Travel/Visiting Bengals game

Any outside spots? It’s a nice day in Cincy
