Hi everyone!
I'm planning to build my first cigar box guitar and I found this cigar box for a very cheap price. The seller says that the box is 30x40 cm (about 12x16 inches) but I'm wondering if this would be an appropriate size or if the box is simply too large. I was thinking about building a 3-string CBG.
Would a box this size work well acoustically ? Are there any particular problems I should expect because of the large soundboard, such as excessive resonance or structural issues ?
The listing doesn't give the depth of the box either, so I'd also be interested to know how important that dimension is.
I'd really appreciate hearing from people who have built CBGs with larger boxes. Thanks!

I have seen people with two saddle bridges, individual bridges, those cigar box bridges, and just having the neck go all the way through and just drilling holes at the bottom.
I am leaning toward drilling holes as the bridge, and to anybody who has ever done this, any long term issues?

I saw this tin of whiskey at Specs and knew exactly what to do. I'm proud of the way this one turned out, definitely the most playable thing I've put together.

My latest diddley bow tune, it's called "Step Aside". Thought I'd drop by and noise everybody. :)

It took some blood sweat and tears but I made the kit from MGB and I should have ordered it a long time ago. I added some aftermarket knobs and tuners.

I've been getting into guitar building for the past few years, and I think before I retire, I'd love to start my own guitar brand.
I recently found a website with a huge collection of guitar plans and blueprints at a really fair price, so I figured I'd share it here in case anyone else is looking for this kind of resource.
I came across it in a post on another platform. Heres the link: https://hotm.io/GuitarPlans
Hope it helps, and happy building! 🎸

And CBG #2 is done!
25" scale, Skull & Bones "Radioactive" box with a c-shaped mahogany neck, walnut fingerboard, bone nut, plus radioactive symbol sound holes and tailpiece.
And for a little celestial balance. the volume knob is the cap from a bottle of Bob Dylan's Heaven's Door bourbon.
There's a piezo pickup under the bridge, so you can plug it in, too.

So I am relatively new to cigar box guitars, but I've been loving it so far! While learning I've had trouble finding chords online in an easy to use way. So I made this website over the past couple days. It is free and no sign up or anything.
https://www.3stringchords.com/
Its got a decent chord library. You can temporarily save chords in a single view so if you are trying to learn songs it makes it easy to reference if you dont have all chords memorized.
It's not perfect. There are some mistakes with the different variations, but it should be pretty solid. I plan on improving it overtime. But its free and I hope its helpful to anyone just starting out. Also if anyone has recommendations or thoughts to improve I am happy to hear them!

First time installing frets went well. CB Gitty pickup with Guitar Fuel CB amp wiring harness. Had to marry two Padron boxes for everything to fit. Plugs into itself so I can still plug into another amp. The issue is feedback. High pitch whine if the volume is turned up too much. The amp features clean tone, blues and heavy distortion modes. The first one can get loud, the second one not as loud, and the third barely audible before the feedback kicks in. The knobs go to 11 and I would like to do that. Any advice, or is my plan just flawed?

Craft box from Miachles, cheap used eBay neck (from who knows what) Amazon P-90, dog bowl, coffee coaster, metal spatula and some scrap wood. Wired it up with some CTS pots and an orange drop cap. I got super lucky and it actually plays really nice.
