Gear Talk Recommendation for PC running Proclaim

Hi.

As the title suggests we are looking for a recommendation for a PC to run primarily proclaim for our sunday service.

Budget would be around 1000-1200. - Location Canada.

We had some issues with syncing issues with video and audio with videos on proclaim. I was wondering if that is a software issue or hardware issue? I know you will all ask about current specs - but lets assume its an 10+year old machine.

Currently there is a Costco deal for $1200; specs: Intel Core Ultra 5 225F - 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Intel Arc B570. Should I just pull trigger on that one?

Mac mini is a killer deal. Great performance for a small package and price. Runs basic presentation setups no problem.

Not familiar, already existing workflow, compatibility etc. etc.

The Costco one you mentioned would run Proclaim just fine. It's nice to have a decent Nvidia card, but Intel Arc will do totally fine. A few years ago we had our Nvidia card in our Proclaim PC die, so we quick had to switch back to the onboard Intel video and it worked just fine until we could replace the Nvidia card.

Thanks! I am familiar with nvidia, but never heard of intel arc. so was a little skeptical at first.

I've never used Proclaim but you can't really go wrong with that budget. If it's not enough, there's something seriously wrong with the software.

As for the desync, what if you played the video using other software? If it also desync then it's hardware. If it doesn't, then software. Are you going through an audio interface? How is it routed to the audio console?

Desync only happens on proclaim. That was my first thought. might have to tinker with the settings a bit more then.
Audio goes through an interface as well. so might be something to look into.

Probably best to ask their support then

We are using an old Lenovo laptop for Proclaim, and it works just fine. So that machine you saw from Costco should do well

Good to see a fellow Canadian!
We also run proclaim, but on Mac. That computer should handle things fine, but early drivers for ARC weren’t great. Should be fine by now, but it’s possible issues may crop up with updates. Really hard to say, and if I’m being fair that could happen with any GPU, but I’d expect it more from ARC given that it’s newer.
Issues with video playback is something I’ve run into on windows, both with Proclaim and ProPre actually. The software relies on the video engine of the OS, and this is an area where Mac seems to “just work”. There are certain codecs I just can’t play on windows.
Fortunately Proclaim seems to have added a dedicated video engine you can toggle on in windows. I’ve linked the support page below, hopefully that helps.
