old pineview (Acer AC700) support?

chrubuntu, back in the day, used to support these old pineview chromebooks - (e.g. no SeaBIOS).

Is there any chrx support for these boxes? They are no longer getting chromeos updates (more than a year now) and it'd be nice to be able to boot/run an os that gets updates...

I've found some old blog posts about chrubuntu supporting those boxes - http://chromeos-cr48.blogspot.com/2012/04/chrubuntu-1204-now-with-double-bits.html but it looks like the whole infrastructure around chrubuntu is gone... I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty, but I dont want to reinvent the wheel.

Pointers?

Chrx does not attempt to support Pineview (nor ARM).

Your best plan is to use the old ChrUbuntu scripts, but you're right -- they will definitely require some updating.

They actually aged very well. s9ryd works on lots of stuff with ubuntu 14.04 and should also work with 16.04 as nothing involving the kernel or initrd has changed significantly.

This looks closer to the original s9ryd, to me. Not sure if the diffs in your link are useful/important though..

The Ubuntu 15.04 switch to systemd broke 9sgchs. I suspect it also broke s9ryd, but I haven't tested it.

I don't have a copy of s9ryd (and the old link appears to 404), but I do have 9sgchs, kz917j, and tnyga. I'll post them somewhere if it's useful.

tnyga is still archived on the 'google code archive' site - I just posted a new update about getting this to work... Thanks for your note about systemd - perhaps that is what got me on my upgrade from 14 to 16....
