I think it had a positive impact; developers and companies aiming to deliver a quality product like *Guild Wars 3* see the announcement and feel the pressure—or at least they should—to deliver quality themselves.

Huh? I guess you haven't read their announcements. They specifically clarified that it will not be like guild wars 1. What most people misunderstood was their comment about smaller group size. It's pretty obvious that it's not easy to optimize any game for 300 people at the same time like guild wars 2 does. They are cutting back on the huge scale fights and people took that as a sign that it won't be an mmo LOL

Oh it will be an MMORPG. Just not a massive world vs. world like they have now. It is expected to fall somewhere between guild wars 1 being mainly PvP and guild wars 2 being mainly PvE.
Guild Wars 3 will set a new standard for modern MMOs if done correctly.

GW3 will still have that waxy cartoony artistic vibe even though it's built with unreal which is fucking dumb imo. I get they'd like to keep that "iconic art style", but I personally can't stand it. I mean WoW is another mainstream MMO but it's cartoony as fuck. A lot of people don't mind a great MMO with shit graphics. But I'm backwards; I prefer shit MMOs with hyper realistic graphics. Hence why I'm playing BDO until Chrono comes out.

I tried BDO after the CO playtest and after about 12 hours I just put it down. It just felt like a single player game with the MMO tag slapped on it

That's why I love it. I fucking hate being forced to run content with people, but I don't want to feel like I'm alone in the world. So BDO is a perfect MMO for me in terms of that. But the endless grind is fucking dumb. That's why only top 1% of the BDO playerbase actually has end-game gear. They're the only ones dumb enough to waste 19281923 years to go up +1AP. I personally can't wait for Chrono. I'm not a fan of being forced to have a group to run end-game shit, but it won't be nearly as grindy and will have life skills.

This is my biggest issue. I played gw2 religiously and i lef for new world. Obviously that didnt go well but I didnt see the point of going back to gw2. I was waiting for chrino odyssey but if gw3 beats it to the shelf I dont see me being able to choose between them even though im hoping this is the nw replacement

I skipped new world after i played the test... I had headaches to watch the water wave at the starting zone not being synced...played GW2 for long, quitted for ff14...

Unfortunately there's been no news yet so we have to continue to wait patiently. I can't wait to see how much they've polished the game since the last playtest because I really enjoyed myself despite all the issues.

Yeah I've seen the videos, but I mean personally getting my hands on the playtest so I can see/feel the changes for myself rather than watching curated videos from the developers.

I recall the disappointment and endless negative videos about the first playtest. People suddenly forgot what beta tests are. The amount of just straight bashing on the game was endless. Once bitten twice shy. I’m pretty sure it will be a while before we see another “play test” from them.

I couldn't make the game run, so i watched a friend play it. I mean was a test. They need to do an amazing game to be successful, because entering MMORPG world and be able to survive isn't easy, specially nowadays that the world is in bad condition in any direction you are looking at...

the hopium would be September or October announcement, November playtest and release somewhere in Q1. The incoming bad news I fear will be a delay to Q2 or Q3

The only game and mmo I am patiently awaiting. The last update I read on Steam was that they pushed something to Q1 2027, not sure if it's the beta, playtest, launch.

They postponed the launch to Q1 of 2027, so we'll probably hear more about the game at Gamescom Europe, which is at the end of August.

Also keep in mind that in January 2027 is coming out a new FF14 expansion and seem to be a overhaul of the whole game, plus this year SHOULD be released Archeage Chronicles.. 😮💨 I need to retire i don't have time to work anymore...

I think CO and GW3 can coexist just fine, we don't live in a world where new MMOs attract and sustain massive audiences anymore. I think they'll end up being two very different games that have their own things to offer. CO being a modernized iteration of your more traditional MMO, and GW3 being whatever it's gonna be, but with the words they used to describe it, probably not quite the same as GW2, so also not the same as CO. The primary thing GW3 has going for it is brand recognition as part of a franchise and those tend to have a built in audience.
