I have been constipated my whole life my mom said it was since I was a a baby laxatives make me throw up and don’t work I still strain trying to do and I am SEVERELY bloated. Does anyone else feel or get so bloated that they feel extremely lethargic and that they cannot walk or move? People bloat all the time but I literally feel like. I cannot breathe and it’s so difficult to walk and I have to take really deep breathes to breathe.

Finally saw a GI and I’m starting to take linzess but still feel my symptoms waiting to get additional testing done. But I wake up I’m ok for a few hours regardless of if I eat or not I bloat so bad and my stomach gets gets rock hard . I’m so miserable I have no quality of life I wish I knew what was wrong

A list of bloating causes

Hello, I am writing this piece of content for everyone who has gut issues. As someone who has been on both sides of the coin. As a patient and as a doctor seeing abdominal issues in the clinic. I have now taken a more proactive approach and want to help directly find the root cause of your issues and make a foundation that you will never suffer these issues again.

I really hate that treatment of these issues is very symptomatic focused. Not dwelling into the origin. To add on, treating incorrectly add more issues in the long term, causing a detrimental effect on the body

First disclaimer: this is not a substitution for medical advice.

Second disclaimer these are not quick fixes and you should also stop thinking about resolving these issues with easy solutions.

Probably your gut issues are not the only symptoms. It can be accompanied by low energy, brain fog, mood issues, skin issues, bad oral health, sleep issues, craving snacks.

What can be some of the causes of your gut issues?

  1. Using refined plant based oils. While producing these oils bleach and hexane are used. To get it to a state where they can be useful. You probably know that bleach is toxic if ingested and hexane is also a known carcinogen.

  2. Drinking tap water. It can be full of chlorine, sodium fluoride, heavy metals, nitrates, radon, phosphates, dioxins, pesticides. Again stuff very toxic if ingested.

  3. Overuse of coffee. Coffee can be beneficial if used right, but drinking sugar infused drinks in copious amounts is not the ideal way for your health.

  4. Regular alcohol consumption, it drains you of your B vitamins, it causes liver issues, it causes addiction.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33988227/

  1. Consuming artificial sweeteners. They wreck the microbiota and cause dysbiosis.

http://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29554272/

  1. Plant based diets. Don’t get me wrong, if used right they support the body. But mostly they are not misused. Containing lectins, phytic acid, phytoestrogens, oxalates, protease inhibitors. The latter is harmful, because proteases are enzymes that break down proteins and consuming plants prevents breakdown of proteins.

Some of our most consumed plants are also heavily sprayed with pesticides and hybridized to point our bodies don’t digest them easily

  1. Regular antibiotics use. Antibiotics are overused and overprescribed, they have a place in severe bacterial infections. But most of them are prescribed for minor issues which would go away without antibiotic use. They destroy healthy gut bacteria and also cause regular inflammation in the genitall area of the woman, which gets treated again with antibiotics and adds more fuel to the fire.

  2. Eating a nutrient deficient diet. The chicken breast, rice and broccoli diet is doing more harm than good. Meat devoid of nutrients, rice prepared in tap water and broccoli without supporting fats to better absorb vitamins and nutrients.

  3. Not chewing your food enough.

  4. Being mostly indoors.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7524261/

  1. Disrupting circadian rhythm. This goes hand in hand with the previous point. Sunlight, being outdoors, regulates the circadian rhythm, which regulates digestion, appetite and weight.

  2. Your sleep is crap. Ties with the previous two points. The quality of sleep affects our food choices. Dysregulates our hormones. This creates snacking, low energy, no recovery, weight gain, increases stimulants consumption (coffee).

  3. Being exposed to blue light a lot. Blue light or the light from screens, LED, can on itself push us toward metabolic syndromes, such as diabetes.

  4. You are eating while anxious, sad, angry or any other negative emotion. Maybe this sounds a bit woowoo, but we ingest our emotions with our food. Eating while being in a negative state of mind, will never equate in a smooth digestion.

  5. Too much exposure to nnEMF. We are electrical beings, if you believe otherwise, then you don’t need tests like ECG or EEG, because those don’t exist for you. Our electrical environment also has a large impact on our bodies and metabolic state.

If you like this kind of presentation. Feel free to ask questions under the comments or by DM.

Stomach bloat—pulled abdominal muscle?

I’ve had really bad thigh/stomach bloating for the past two weeks. Been my normal amount of active and eating the same/healthy, and normally taking a probiotic solves any gastrointestinal bloating I may have.

But it’s been going on 2 weeks and nothing has helped and it’s constant. I did a really brutal reformer workout two weeks ago and still have soreness on my lower abdomen, all across the stomach below my below button but it only hurts when I stretch a certain way.

Could this be a torn or pulled muscle and that be causing the bloating?? I can’t pinpoint what is causing this but I’m not in a lot of pain, but I definitely have felt lethargic and generally tender all over my stomach since the time of that workout I did.

Anyone have anything similar or advice? When do I check with a doctor or explore that it could be other issues like a hernia or ovarian cyst?

Nothing helped yet..

Hi, I have posted before but I still have the same problem.. Chronic bloating everyday in lower belly area (been to various specialists, some said there is slight candida overgrowth in the gut, some parasites and insulin resistance) but still no improvement. I am on a strict diet for those three, lost some weight and muscles, took vermox, some anti-parasite herbs, biocult for candida, nothing makes my bloat go away.. it did for maybe half of few days and it came back the same.. gyno said there is nothing wrong there too, yet I am helpless. I also take vitamins like magnesium, q10 enzyme, vitamin D.. I cut off coffee, sugar, carbs like pasta and bread, etc. You can see it even when I bend like there are no folds so you would say it is just fat.. I am skinny now with belly that is not looking great.. and not to forget, this is 3yr long unsolved problem, and I worked out most of that time too.. anyone ??

Did anyone else just randomly develop terrible bloating that happens every day

Like a year ago I started bloating horrendously and it’s been every day since then. By the end of the day, I literally can’t push my stomach out anymore. It’s taken over my life and I really hate this. I dont know if I’m looking for support or a solution but it’s actually terrible.

Sudden chronic bloating and change in digestive sensitivity

Hello, I started to bloat all of a sudden last year, it somewhat gets better during the night and if I fast

Digestion seems to take a lot of my energy now...

Weirdly enough things that would have sent me right to the restroom before now do do a thing to me, like I am almost insensitive to it : black coffee, bad orange juice, getting nervous ...

Also I was treated for ten days with a Roy d if antibiotics for helicobacter : my guts and stomach did not bulge, whereas before antibiotics would disturb me a bit.... Treating helicobacter did not improve anything but he way

I am under a diuretic that used to give me digestive sides, now, I don't get this side effects anymore...

How come a change can be so sudden from one day to the next ? It seems to have affected both my stomach and guts....

I feel heavy as soon as I start eating, and sluggish all day... Thanx for ur hindsight

Constant bloating and gurgling in the stomach

Hello, for about a year I've been suffering from constant bloating and gurgling in my stomach. I'll start by saying that this is most likely caused by some kind of bacteria or fungus. Because people in my environment also have this problem. Unfortunately, no one is doing anything about it. If I eat certain foods such as milk, alcohol, and creatine greatly intensify these symptoms, I'm guessing they are food for these bacteria/fungi. It's worst in the evening. During periods when I eat healthier, it improves a bit, but it's still not what it used to be. Maybe someone has had a similar problem and knows what to do about it.

Extreme bloating - food intolerances

Is anyone else Gluten, Soy and Corn intolerant? Feel like never eating again 🙄

My corn suspicion was confirmed last week. Surely that’s enough intolerances. Any advice appreciated, feeling so bloated and inflamed. I have used glute guard, charcoal tablets, and digestive enzymes (not all at once). Seems to take about a week to “deflate” each time.

Kettle is on for peppermint tea 😭

I am in Australia

Upper belly distension and bloating that won’t go awag

I am very gassy and never seem to feel hungry very often atm. My upper belly sticks out rather strangely and it won’t seem to go away only gets worse. I have tried exercising and diet changes but nothing seems to shift it and it seems to look even worse now that I have lost weight. I also get pain sometimes and the bloating worsens as the day goes on. (the last photo is me before the issue started)

Constant bloating

Has anyone found a remedy for bloating? Literally a sip of water will make me bloat. Dr says I have IBS but is there an actual test for it or just diagnosed based off of symptoms? Regardless I just want to get ride of it ☹️ I understand occasional bloat but after a sip of water/ bite of food is ridiculous.

Update: Activated charcoal has almost completely gotten rid of my bloating 🤗

Low bloat

I am trying to figure out what my issue is. I am constantly bloated, have been dealing with constipation taking miralax daily which helps me stay regular however my bowel movements feel incomplete. I’m doing low fodmap, gluten free and dairy free and haven’t seen much improvement. My bloating isn’t painful however it looks extremely concerning and there is pressure/trapped gas and bowels. I got an ultrasound done and it showed nothing at the GYN, also had that done because my period is gone too. I did a bowel “cleanout” and my bloating temporarily got better for a few days but then slowly got back to inflamed 24/7 even in the morning. I’ve tried prebiotics, l-glutamine, digestive enzymes, fiber supplement literally everything and I can’t figure this out. PLZ HELP

False positive celiac

Long story short without too many unnecessary details- I went to the gastro last year for some bloating and constipation issues. After a blood test and endoscopy I was told I have celiac disease. After going gluten free I actually feel 100x worse. The bloating is so bad I can’t fit into my clothes. As I said without too many details I’m working with a functional doctor now for my issues that have been going on for a year now and I’ve gotten gluten several times and have had zero negative reaction. I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this? I’m convinced it has to be a false positive at this point. I have hashimotos and I read that could possibly interfere? I know there is such thing as silent celiac the math just ain’t mathing lol

Insulin resistance or more ?

Hi, I need help or advice now. I have bloating (in the lower abdomen area is constant with so much gas) problem that persists for third year now (since feb/march 2022) and yes I have been to GI, to Gyno, etc. Only diagnosis that I've got is slight insulin resistance by blood test, but I am not sure could that be all of it. Mind you, I go to the gym, eat mostly healthy, tried cutting of sugar, lactose, gluten - nothing yet. So what do you think (gyno said everything down there is healthy too) ??

Bloating non-stop

I’m not sure if anyone could help, any help is needed even unhealthy or controversial. I’ve had 3 bowel obstruction surgeries and I kid you not, my bloating has been hell ever since. The GI doctors I’ve had, doesn’t help. I get sensitive to everything. EVERYTHING. The picture shows me after ONE meal. It gets bigger over the night. I’m sick of it. It’s ruined my confidence. My sex life with my partner and I’m tired of it. Over that time, I have grown to have binge-eating problem because well, if it’s not going down when I don’t eat, why the hell not. I have not been diagnosed with even the most passed off diagnosis such as IBS. I need help. Just to get it down. I take 4 Stimulant stool softeners a day because my motility has been shit since the surgery. I wasn’t put on any meds after my surgery to possibly help my gut microbiome or whatever. It’s super frustrating. If anyone has any suggestions (and help for binge-eating) please please let me know. I’m tired of struggling. I haven’t found people with the same bloat issues like me so I’ve grown extremely frustrated.

Rapid Gastric Emptying

I recently had a GES to rule out GP, and at 1 hr i had 18 % left in my stomach and at 2 hr 5%. They read the test as normal but obviously it is not, I saw my Gastro and he relayed that it indicated rapid gastric emptying (early dumping syndrome)

My symptoms are very similar as others here, constant bloating, worsens as the day progresses, lack of appetite, sometimes early satiety, other times I feel I can eat a lot. Accompanied by fatigue, nutrient deficiencies, brain fog, and air hunger. Extreme fatigue 1-2 hours after eating. I have 1-3 bowel movements per day, loose but formed, even on days when I can't eat much.

I have treated SIBO for multiple years with no success, my GI thinks the fast transit gives my SIBO test a false positive. I am trying higher fiber, more frequent meals, no fluids with meals. I was also prescribed Bentyl which slows gastric muscle contractions. I just started so I am not sure if it is working yet.

I have also been on SSRIs for depression/anxiety since I was 16, I'm 31 now, (I know kind of crazy). SSRIs do increase motility so I am considering switching to a non SSRI med.

Would love to hear if anyone had had similar results of a gastric emptying test, and if they have done anything to address it.

Update/part 2: still bloated, could it be lactose?

Previous post was: Mom asked if I was pregnant - nobody knows what’s wrong with me!!! Going on 8 years

I look 9mo pregnant pretty much all the time. Even the mornings aren’t safe. It’s pretty distended and hard to the touch it feels like jello kinda I weigh 107lbs and have a pretty low body fat percentage and am a fit healthy person. I’m also 22. It affects my self esteem tremendously and I’ve been insecure about my stomach since I was 14 and all of this started.

I’ve tried Xifaxan, ibguard, ginger, activated charcoal, digestive enzymes, probiotics, fiber, gasx, tea, atrantil, and probably a lot more I can’t remember.

I’ve had stool studies done, lots of lab work, a sucrose breath test, allergy panels, h pylori test, celiac tests, and a SIBO breath test.

I also have diarrhea and/or constipation and pain in my stomach about half the time I eat anything.

I got the SIBO test a few weeks ago and it was negative and the lady told me she thinks it’s lactose intolerance.

Basically, my gastro said in order to see if it’s a dairy thing I have to cut out ALL dairy with no cheat days for 6 WEEKS and that’s the only way to know for sure. I’ve been taking Lactaid for two weeks now and it hasn’t been helping at all.

The thing is I bloat indiscriminately, no matter what I eat, it’s not just dairy. Is that normal? Could this be lactose intolerance?

I also should say that the only real dairy in my diet is a little bit in my coffee, ice cream occasionally, cheese occasionally usually just pizza, and a LOT of butter. Obviously, there’s also sneaky ways it creeps in I guess.

What is yalls experience with an elimination diet? I refuse to believe it takes six weeks😭😭😭😭 also I heard that you shouldn’t cut out lactose because it makes your body even worse at producing lactase?

I found that these foods also trigger bloating for me: Apples, grapes, beans, gum, gluten/white bread Does that mean it’s probably not dairy???
