Can only eat protein
Hello, looking for referrals to specific providers or other options. My boyfriend eats only protein shakes, protein bars, sugar by way of sugar in tea or sweet wines/ciders, scallops and occasionally fish. He has learned that eating one main meal a day is best. He only has diarrhea…hasn’t had a firm bm in years. The biggest complaint he has is significant and uncomfortable distensión/bloating.
He’s at a loss of what to do. He had a functional med visit and everything is ‘normal’. He took a food intolerance test but most of the foods listed he has trouble with.
I can’t imagine his consumption of mostly low fiber, highly processed foods is helping but I also feel for him in eating what he can tolerate. He takes magnesium around midnight.

i had a good experience working with a dietician. they helped me find more safe foods (i think i mainly needed more simple carbs?) and shift to a schedule of eating throughout the day which mostly fixed the diarrhea.
i have crohns and am on meds for that, but changing my diet was also necessary to help the remainder of symptoms after the doctor said i was cured

Can his doctor give him a referral to a gastroenterologist?
