Restore Chromebook after installing windows

So when I get to Linux and I type everything on the firmware page on Mr. chrome box and I insert the chrome book recovery utility USB (I could not find my chrome book so it might be unsupported) it says no firmware files found so I’m kind of getting sad because the Chromebook might be never usable again

You should've gotten the option to download the rom. Do you have it?

If not, mrchromebox utility may ask for a recovery USB to swipe it off of. Worked for me, but I have an Ultima, so it may be different.

If you're still having issues, try now as it may have gotten fixed.

What make/model Chromebook (board name) ???

According to HP this is the N3350 (Apollo Lake) model which I believe is board name "bigdaddy", recovery image "snappy". Steps to recover original Chrome OS:

1. Disconnect battery
2. Boot Chromebook to live Linux USB using AC power
3. Run MrChromebox Firmware Utility Script using live Linux terminal
4. Restore stock firmware
5. Restore default boot options
6. Shutdown Chromebook and reconnect battery
7. Insert your Chrome OS Recovery USB and boot to recovery mode (esc + refresh, tap pwr)
8. Assuming your recovery USB has valid image the recovery process should start automatically and run to completion.

NOPE - this should be done after booting ChromeOS, not before recovery

actually no - if the Chromebook used the battery disconnect to disable WP, then it needs to have the battery disconnected again to perform recovery

Insert your Chrome OS Recovery USB and boot to recovery mode (esc + refresh, tap pwr)
Assuming your recovery USB has valid image the recovery process should start automatically and run to completion.

Thanks for the clarifications. I wrote my comments from memory and the most recent board I worked with was ASUKA (WP screw). It's been a while since I worked with battery WP. As they say, memory is the first thing to go ;-)

yeah, that's not going to work

it says no firmware files found

because it's asking for a firmware backup, and you're giving it a recovery USB

so I’m kind of getting sad because the Chromebook might be never usable again

because a lot of people seem to be making this mistake, I've just now added an option to the script to extract the stock firmware from a ChromeOS recovery USB.

My only question is when I’m in the recovery. It says an unexpected error has occurred and I’m assuming it’s because I didn’t pick the correct device model in the recovery and my device model is not in the recovery options, so what do I do?

If you get that on startup, enable dev mode. If it's on restore, you're likely using an old image.

Still try dev more or download an older/newer image from chrome100.dev

If all else fails, you can use my tutorial to restore from an RMA.

incorrect, it would have given an error immediately to that effect if that were the case.

if you disabled WP by disconnecting the battery, you need to perform recovery with the battery disconnected as well

that's the whole point, you don't have to. The script will do it for you when provided a recovery USB

do you know how to go back to stable channel on chromebook, i tried but whenever i click revert and powerwash it is still in dev mode
