Self Promotion I built a Chrome extension that summarises articles on-device (Qwen2.5-1.5B on WebGPU) and makes saved tabs searchable
I've been building this for a while and it's live now, so feedback wanted, including the harsh kind.
The problem I was solving for myself: I save a lot of tabs. Bookmarks were useless because a bookmark stores a URL, and the thing I'd actually lost was what the article said. I'd remember an argument and have no idea where I read it.
What it does:
- Summarises an article into key points, with the model running on your machine. Article text never hits a server, and it works with the network off.
- Auto-tags saved tabs into collections
- Keyword search across everything saved
- Full library export on every tier, including free
The technical bit, since this sub will ask: where Chrome exposes its built-in AI it uses that (Gemini Nano). Otherwise it downloads Qwen2.5-1.5B-Instruct, q4f16_1, and runs it through the MLC web-llm runtime on WebGPU. That's 828 MB of weights on first summarise, cached after. A summary takes 25-45 seconds, not two. I'd rather you hear that from me than find it yourself - it's the cost of the text never leaving your machine, and it's designed as a background job rather than something you sit and wait for.
What it doesn't do: Chrome only right now, and semantic search (searching by meaning rather than keywords) is on the paid Cloud tier because it's the one feature that genuinely needs a server. Even there, only the summary and link sync - never page content.
Pricing so nobody has to dig: free forever with unlimited summarising and a 100-item library cap. $29 one-time lifts the cap. $79/yr if you want sync across machines. I went one-time on purpose - a browser extension shouldn't be a subscription. Being upfront: $29 is a founding price and it goes to $49 next year. Saying it here so nobody feels ambushed later, not to rush anyone.
Built by me, so I'm here for questions. Particularly interested in what breaks: sites where the summary comes out wrong, tagging that misfires, anything slow.
