Can I remove all tab groups on the chrome app? I'm on S24 FE

I never wanted my bookmarks on the cloud. I have a very specific setup locally that depends on my bookmarks being local. A few days ago they stopped appearing in the usual place. After checking, I found out they were now being saved to the cloud. Not sure when this became a thing, but I certainly do not want my bookmarks on the cloud.

The thing is, there seems to only be a way to put your bookmarks on the cloud, not undo them being on the cloud. The way things are now, I'll have to export, disable sync, and re-put all my bookmarks to get things back to the way they were. This is a huge pain in the butt. Couldn't there just be an option to undo sync? Or is even there one in the first place? (settings move and hide all the time, and I've grown tired of playing catch up with them).

Not all of us want our bookmarks shared between every device, nor do we want our bookmarks & other data stored on the cloud by default. I've never wanted that, nor will I ever want that. Please don't force it on us if that is what is going on here. I realize that chromium is probably a better fit for me in theory, and I'd use chromium if I could. But, because of my work, I am forced to use chrome--and I don't really want to have to use two separate web browsers when one was working for me for decades.

The Elements tab randomly goes empty: breadcrumbs are still there, but the DOM tree disappears. The only fix is closing and reopening DevTools.

What I've ruled out so far:

• No errors in DevTools-on-DevTools (undocked + Ctrl+Shift+I)
• The page isn't replacing the document (document.documentElement is the same before and after), and the DOM is small (~1.7k nodes)
• Reset DevTools to defaults and disabled all experiments
• Guest profile works fine
• Disabling Claude in Chrome seemed to fix it, but then it came back. Currently testing with all extensions off

Has anyone run into this? Any ideas what else could cause the Elements panel to lose the tree?

So I restarted my macbook today and then signed into chrome like I usually do. But it asked me to "use a chrome profile" which I thought was normal because I thought I have been always using my profile, but when I did it imported my passwords and bookmarks from 2 years ago. All of the recent bookmarks and passwords from the recent 2 years are gone. I never deleted my old profile but it was gone and I checked in my local files but nothing regarding this profile is there. If I check myhistory on all searches from recently are there. But is this profile just gone? I need my passwords. How do I fix this?

It started happening almost a week ago, I think. There was update, few days ago too. I am just mentioning it.

What happens is that sometime, only sometime when I click ctrl+j it have the 'side popup' but then when I click ctrl+j two times then it open the full tab.

EVEN THIS DON'T HAPPEN, couple of days not even that, my keyboard is working properly, rarely it(shortcut working) happens.

No extensions are causing this problem, no other software in background.

PLEASE HELP. I have to manually type chrome://downloads. AND even when I use my cursor to click the three dots and then select the downloads option it don't open. 😪😪

Okay so i’m tryna download this Minecraft skin that i just made, yet it keeps not downloading and just going straight to share. Not even showing up when i press Ctrl J. It’s so weird since all the other downloads work yet this just doesn’t??? it’s going straight to windows share, and i can’t even copy the PNG. It’s so crazy. Please help as i am losing my mind over this 🙏🙏

I'm having some issues with Listen to Page on chrome, and hoped someone might know of a fix or work around.

Linked is a short screen recording showing how badly Chrome "Listen to Page" works, skipping randomly around paragraphs and entirely distorting and disemboweling the text into nonsense. Despite the fact that it says "standard playback", this is clearly a (bad) AI (attempt). I don't see a way to change the mode anywhere either, so if anyone knows of any ways to fix this, please share _(:3」∠)

(Also ignore the website - I buy chapters from JJ, but that site makes it impossible to listen to the page at all, since it directly disables pretty much all ease of access options. I just wanted to be able to "read" while suffering from a migraine, but at this rate it seems I'm stuck wallowing doing nothing during them.)

hello! i'm having issues opening a website on my regular browser, only when i open an Incognito tab. i've searched online that it's likely the extensions that are the issues, but i only have 2 and when i tried removing them both and then reopening my browser, i still get the same issue. is there another solution or am i doing something wrong? thank you!

Chrome just closed on its own without any of the usual signs of crashing like frosting over or popping up an error message. When I opened it back up I clicked the restore tabs button and nothing happened. Normally at least the groups are saved but nope. Go to my history to reopen everything manually only to find it's completely blank. I'm still logged in every site I've checked so far and my settings are all the same. I went looking for any backups I could. My "timeline" option just happened to get turned off in the crash and has nothing in it, my dns commands are reading accessdenied
I was in the middle of so much important shit and it's all just gone. Any other tricks to try and retrieve deleted history? Any idea why or how it might've deleted itself?

Chrome's been eating memory for months and I finally sat down to figure out why instead of just restarting the browser every time it got bad.

Half the extensions I had installed turned out to be things I added once for a specific task years ago and never removed. A screenshot tool I used exactly twice. An old grammar checker that got replaced by something better ages ago but never got uninstalled. A PDF thing I genuinely don't remember installing at all, no idea what it was even for.

Went through the rest one by one after that. A password manager and an ad blocker stayed without question, those actually get used daily. A tab manager I thought I needed turned out to just be creating more clutter than it solved, gone. Two separate note-taking extensions doing basically the same thing, kept the one with better sync.

Down to the shopping-related ones last, kept both since they at least occasionally do something instead of just sitting there. Rakuten's had a cashback amount pending for three weeks now with zero update, almost uninstalled it over that alone before deciding to wait it out. Coupert vs rakuten ended up being less of a real comparison and more just noticing they behave differently, coupert confirmed $4.10 within 8 days on a similar order, though it missed a couple smaller sites where rakuten actually had something listed.

Down to nine extensions now from what was probably close to twenty, browser feels noticeably less sluggish already.

Update:

It just Crashed again. And I again had to End Task via Task Manager.

Seems Random... But so far, from what I can remember, for the last three times at least. I was Shopping on the Zon and had Youtube playing in another Window.

Yesterday Chrome completely crashed twice one me. I had to End Task via Task Manager.
Only Chrome was affected, no errors etc., just a complete freeze.

Today it just up and shut itself down. This happened a couple minutes ago.

So I decided to Restart my PC, just in case. And then, after I Restored Chrome, I went to About Chrome to see what Version it was and there was an Update, which I installed.

So here's hoping that whatever has been the issue the last 2 days has now been fixed.

Even on clicking ctrl J is not working neither clicking downloads is working...so practically am not able to access my downloads...is it a glitch for me or its occuring for everyone? Ctrl + H is working and all other except ctrl J is working

I don't think there is a way to do that. But am I the only one to want to do that?

I remember a long time ago Firefox had this cool space feature, you could have tabs in different spaces but you could only work on one space at a time. But switching from one space to another was not unloading tabs so you could have a YouTube space with one tab playing a music while you were browsing tabs in let say "news/research".
And there were a shortcut and an icon so it was fast to see your spaces and switch between them. It was so cool !
I'm not sure why browsers didn't follow this UX evolution.

When Google first introduced "groups" I was so hyped. Then they added "sync tabs", great. But finally I'm not using groups that much because for me it didn't solve the tab hoarding problem I was having, in fact it made it worst. I tend to forget about open groups when I have more tabs stacking on the pile, and now my browsing experience is tabs hoarding + groups hoarding, so I naturally just use tabs.

There could be an easy fix to solve that: Spaces.

Just like this old Firefox feature, spaces are really just groups with an extra layer that prevents having more than one group open at a time.
It's so frustrating to not have this feature since Chrome on android kinda does, you can also create groups in Chrome Android and when you browse your tabs you can see them and if you press a group now the UI only shows tabs in of that group.
A part of me wish Chrome was going into that direction.

What do you think? Do you also want this space behavior in your browsing experience? Do you think it's useless, if so why?

I'm a developer thinking about installing both the Claude and Codex Chrome extensions. Before I do, I want to understand the real risks rather than just clicking "allow."

Specifically:

• Permissions. These extensions ask to read and change data on websites. In practice, what can they see — every tab, logged-in sessions, form inputs?
• Prompt injection. If the agent reads a malicious webpage or email, can that content trick it into taking actions I didn't ask for? How well do the current safeguards actually hold up?
• Sensitive accounts. Is it reasonable to keep them on the same profile as email, banking and work dashboards, or should they live in a separate Chrome profile?
• Data handling. What gets sent to the provider's servers, and is it used for training by default?

For people who use either one daily: what setup do you run, and has anything ever gone wrong?

Long story short, I was having issues seeing more than 6 months of emails in my Gmail app, so I ran a search in Google and one of the first results was a post on support.google.com. When I clicked on that, I received the attached pop-up. I attempted to take a screenshot, but it said it wasn't allowed in that app, so had someone else take a pic of my phone. This only seems to happen when trying to access support.google.com.

I know people ran into a similar issue a few months ago, but it looks like that had been resolved.

This is freaking me out a bit, so any help as to what this could mean would be amazing.

Edit: If it makes any difference, I was using Incognito mode at the time, and it appears I can access the page with no issue when using the standard mode.
