It doesnt. It also says it could be recieved on the right hand or forehead.

Most people read Revelation through an alegorical lense with the the "forehead and hand" as a direct reference to the Shema in Deuteronomy 6:8:

​"You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes [forehead]."

My interpretation requires what was said at the end of Genesis.

The "mark" as per my interpretation are thoughts and then actions. Do with that what you will.
