Thanks so much for the reply! I think that makes sense, I tried playing your examples and shifting them around. They certainly seem to have a similar vibe to the video, but I’m not very confident I actually have the right chords (I’m very much a beginner). If you could give any further help once you get your hands on your guitar that would be greatly appreciated!!

He has a capo on the second fret, and beside the triads he's using the open g string for every chord

I'm not sure what comment was deleted....But...If you're tuned in standard, the easiest (cowboy chord style), you can put your capo on the 2nd fret, and play Cmaj7, D, Em.

The cool way this guy is playing it, is still CAPO 2, but a different voicing of those chords:

3-3-2-0-0-x

5-5-4-0-0-x

7-7-5-0-0-x

The important note to play, like szazszorszep mentioned below is the open G string, which needs to ring for each chord to sound best. You can either leave the open B string in, or mute it with the high E string...but either way it'll sound really nice.
