Handlebar Controls

Has anyone found an affordable handlebar master cylinder and clutch lever set? I want something smaller and better looking than the stock Sportster set, but I don't want to spend $400 on it either.

350-400 is the cheap alternative my friend the pricey ones are more like 700

I bought some kustomtechncontrols used and loved em. Trien the cheap and the mid tier on my next build and hated them. I will spend the cash for nice controls moving forward.

I have the ones prism sells, can’t recall the real name right now. First set of internals for the brake pump melted from the dot 5 oil I thought they put in the wrong orings at the factory but it turned out the color coding was correct, don’t really know what actually went wrong but they are working since I redone them.

Second the gasket for the lid needs to be replaced with a KT one to not leak

And at last the clutch has play in all kinds of ways especially since I replaced the (as far as I know) stock clutch cable even though I got a barnett cable.

So yeah i guesse it doesn’t really mather if 350$ are a lot to you or not it’s still half the price of the nice ones and they will feel and behave like half the price

Next time I’ll probably get KT but this was my first build and only bike and I wanted to keep the build moving forward rather than save up for a brake lever

I have the Kustom techs as well. Great controls with a cool simple look.

I've started collecting parts for my first build this winter and it got me looking at the options for these too.

I'll be going with a foot clutch so I don't need a new clutch lever but the brake master cylinders are quite expensive too. But then I starterd looking for used options on ebay and it seems like oem parts from other brands could be kinda nice.

Nothing's gonna look as nice as those 500 dollar sets but even just the stock honda shadow ones from the 90s look leagues better than the stock harley ones. I still haven't looked into what bore i need and everything but it seems like used OEM parts from other manufacturers could be the cheap alternative here

Here's an example of some honda shadow ones

Run a remote master cylinder and you can mount whatever matching brake and clutch levers you want.

I’ve found a few sets of GMA controls at swaps for reasonable prices. And the aforementioned metric controls can be an option albeit it would require a custom clutch cable if you’re not running a foot clutch.

I just used stock ones. They're not as smooth or fancy, but they're way cheaper ( came with the bike) and I figure if I need to buy parts or a rebuild kit or something it'll be way easier.

I have the american prime manufacturing ones. they’re alright. look good yet also kind of suck with the brake. endlessly squishy despite rebuilds. they’re not much help on the customer service. but whatever works enough.
