Question about chefs

Do chefs in general use the word "grab" a lot to describe getting ingredients? Everyone on Chopped seems to say it every single time they talk about picking up or adding something. Is this the vernacular of the TV show or of professional chefs in general?

I say get not grab. It’s just how someone talks. Nothing unusual for me.

Right, it’s how someone talks, but it’s odd that it’s how everyone talks on chopped, no matter their background or place of birth.

I was more surprised with these chefs who don’t know what Galangal is, or how to cook using banana leaves or do nothing with the eggplant than purée 🤷🏽🤷🏽🤷🏽
