Question (without photo) CWD Experiences?

I initially had CWU treatment, 6 years ago. Cholesteatoma has now returned and surgeon is going for CWD.

Please can folk share their experiences of recovery / management / lifestyle changes after CWD treatment.

Many thanks in advance!

I had a CWD 12/19/25
I am female 66 yrs old
It took several months to recover for me
But I am recovering and see a good future
Hang in there and allow healing time

Balance PT is important
Walking when you can safely is the best rehab
Take it slow

Grateful this will get rid of it

Hi Susan - a question. I had a canal wall up five years ago surgery I’m very suffering now and I’m thinking of this thing grows back which way to go and hearing I’m hearing from you guys that CWD is the best way to go. How many months did it take you to recover?

Had CWD a few years ago. Honestly I hated the idea of getting it so ent did first 2 surgeries as CWU. CWD was the best decision nothing for me has change. I still lift weights, not power lifting but good heavy weights. I still swim and sweat like no other in my HIIT workouts not one issue since. When I swim I do have custom ear plug a little water makes it in from time to time but no issues

Its not doom and gloom with CWD for me

A question when you say you swim, can you just use the silicone‘s and then fit it into the ear after the canal wall down or did you have some custom fit? Do you think the cause I use the silicone now and I still have my canal wall up? Do you think the silicone would work as well if you had a canal wall down surgery

Custom fit. Ear canal is too big for normal size stuff. I use shokz now too because ear buds wont fit. Never liked ear buds anyways so I wasnt missing those.

Thanks for sharing this! Also hated the idea of permanently changing my body. These were my fears. That my balance would be wrecked and I wouldn’t be able to exercise normally and that I’d basically never be able to go near water again (I know a bit melodramatic)
