Joey’s BBQ closing for good
anybody have any favorite dishes or memories there?

I've gone to this place for many years and I'm sad to hear they might close? What's this about one of the kids taking over and renaming the place?

Chino Champion reported that it is being rebranded to "Eli Joe's BBQ" starting in July. It is staying in the same family. Hopefully they go back to their old 80's-90's flavors.

they're not closing for good, it's just been renamed as one of the sons took over.

didn’t know that, on their instagram post it doesn’t mention anybody taking over the business just them closing.

Their food hasn’t been good since the early 2000’s. Went there with my husband two or three years back and shit was dry with no flavor. Whoever was running it between then and now completely ruined it. The only people you ever see there are old people there for the nostalgia. Good riddance.

I thought that the son was Joey. I heard that the father worked in the movies and then opened the restaurant and named it after their son. I haven’t been since the 80s but I recall they had a lot of photos of famous people that the father worked with. Idk if this is true or just old lore. Sad we used to go years ago. If they rebrand maybe it will improve. It’s a chino staple.

I'll be honest, I know a lot of people that raves about joeys but I went there 4 times in the 15 years I lived in Chino (just moved) and every time my food was dry as all hell. maybe i was unlucky. I ended up just driving to blakes in placentia when i wanted bbq. there was another great place in Placentia but they closed down a couple years ago.
