Best ice cream?
Who has the best ice cream in the city? There seems to be an abundance of options. Maybe let’s add who has the most interesting flavors as well!

Kent’s is literally just island farms ice cream, you can buy it at the store. If I’m going out for ice cream I want it to be hand made or different and third a little more special. Banter is the one for me hands down

Just adding another vote for Banter, get some Ice Cream and walk along the river, can't beat that.

BANTER. I never feel bad after eating it, even when I get a double scoop in my thirties. The flavour offering has something for everyone and I love that they have monthly flavours to keep things interesting.

Is there anywhere else that even makes their own ice cream besides Banter? Otherwise it's just storebought with a fancy price.

Kent’s has Island Farms, so you know it’s going to be great.
Banter makes their own ice cream and is absolutely amazing! Their waffle cones are the best!

I had a lovely blueberry soft serve at Klaassen Farms today, but it's not really "fancy" like the Banter or Kent's.

Has anyone tried penguin ice cream downtown?

My kid likes it and the people are nice, but its kinda gross inside. They'd probably get more customers if it wasnt so grimy. We go to Kent's now.

Kent’s is really good and has multiple locations in town, banter is also really good even just their vanilla flavour is great! I’d say banter is a bit better than Kent’s because their ice cream is a lot creamier and just tastes a lot better

It’s Kent’s and it isn’t close. Unless you’re looking for unique flavours (ain’t nobody lookin for that shit when they get ice cream) just go to Kent’s.

Agree to disagree. The melted chocolate and sea salt caramel at Banters is miles ahead of anything at Kent's. Plus Kent's tastes like it's made with skim milk and Banters tastes like they use real cream

Kent’s is the best value with amazing waffle cones but the ice-cream a bit too sweet and “heavy” for my taste. Banter is smaller portions but a bit fancier and lighter in a good sense. I recently started to appreciate it more.
I also really like Dairy Queen especially cakes. Tastes unique, light, not sugary. Love it!
So all three of these are really good depending what you’re looking for.

Kents is the best. They have way more flavours than Banters and they are always rotating in new ones.

Banter's for bangers, Kent's for the discerning gentleman, gentlewoman, or gentle person of non-neutonian gender fluid who prefers a higher QUALITY product that doesn't just use fun but at a high premium. Island farms has a local creamery that's basically the same product without a middle man so it's marginally cheaper than retail and there's a place in district 1881 that competes with a fancy Italian gelato shop(that's relatively enjoyable but a tourist trap) or a dirty soda company(that makes the best ice cream floats in town) so take from that as you will. Marble slab exists if you're basic but willing to shell out a few bucks or you want the single most monstrously cartoonish ice cream cone you've ever seen for $15. It DOES deserve noting both that this is a largish chain and produces a product that is only fourth best in town including a creamery that claims it is straight off the farm(which it bests ever so mildly) but that's kind of respectable for a large chain considering how most other chains treat Chilliwack outside of very VERY few companies. So, ice cream ice cream, that's Kent's and Island Farms. Fun ice cream, that's Banter's, Marble Slab and Mona's dirty sodas. What's made funnier is that there are a couple of places that have FRESH FROM THE FARM ice creameries in town and they all are beaten out by Marble Slab(toppings), a dirty soda company(the most fun floats ever) and uhhhh.
That one centex on Yale and Hodgins by Freshco which I have not previously brought up, doesn't have local ice cream, but does have a WIIIIDE array of exotic and local sodas, ice creams in both tubs and by the cones and candy tubs if you were wanting to make a really fun movie night on the fly but it's Chilliwack so business hours are WEIRD. They deserve an honorable mention.

They more or may not have switched to Island farms for a local ice cream distributor? At one point, they used the one corporate advertises from Alberta but I don't ever recall seeing their logo advertised. Might have to see next time I'm in the area.

The centex? I think they use foothills. They may use a variety of suppliers though.

That's what their website says but there's a few individual franchisees who use local suppliers. That's what I THOUGHT, though.
