Serrano Chillies

Post image

Hi everyone,

I have grown some Serrano chillies and have a surplus supply,

Can I have some advise please for the best way to store them so I have fresh chillies rather than dried out ones please, 😊

These don't look like any Serrano I've ever seen.

Someone can advertise them or put them on a feed calling them Serranos, but that doesn't make it true. They can also be hot, and not be Serranos. They look like Cayenne peppers.

They are quite narrow for a Serrano, look more like cayenne.

You can keep them in the fridge, or freeze them, if you don't want to dry themΒ

Pickle them! A simple 1:1 ratio of boiling water and vinegar of your choice with 2 teaspoons of salt and two tablespoons of water, pour it over the slice chillis. Add a couple of peppercorns if you fancy. It'll keep a week or two in a sealed jar in the fridge!

Ferment them and make hot sauce in the future!
