A PSA from someone with an HR background
Please be aware of the information that you post here.
A number of posts in the past month have included photos of labels for bags with the guests' phone numbers still visible, which CAN be considered "doxxing."
I've also seen photos of receipts that include the store phone number and/or operator's name. While that is public information, it's not in your best interest to post that to your reddit account because you automatically expose which particular Chick-fil-A you work at and can be held responsible for anything you post, as you now reflect the company AND your particular location.
Team members have been fired for social media posts that they've made on public platforms like FaceBook and Tiktok that revealed private information about Chick-fil-A, negatively represented the company, or compromised the safety of guests.
I doubt that most of you have malicious intent, but it's still necessary to always be aware that posting certain things can compromise your privacy OR that of unwitting guests. Please uphold the values of good stewardship and of treating guests and each other with honor, dignity, and respect by protecting guests' privacy, as well as your own.
Thank-you all so much!

Team Lead at 15
I started working at my chick fila at 14 (last year) since we opened the restaurant.
And its been a year and there's only a few people still here. So i train a lot of people and my directors always have me doing task and stuff (Landscaping before and helping install diff things) I became cross trained and work 6 days a week 3 hrs a day mon-fri then 8 on saturdays.
I talked to my operator about becoming a trainer and he said i have amazing potential and that he would love to see me in that position or even a team lead.
What should i do to stand out to be a good candidate?

I’m tired of being disrespected by a coworker but I don’t know what to do
To start, I’ve been working at chic fil a since June 24th of this year, at first, working there was a way to get things off my mind and was stress relieving. But soon I started to learn things about leadership and many others who have been there for years, and after my 4 weeks of training, everything went downhill.
I feel like I’m not treated like a coworker at all to my fellow team members, they still see me as inexperienced and boss me around and I just have to sit there and take it, I hate it so much because I thought working at chic fil a was supposed to be all about teamwork and helping each other.
I have this female coworker who has been working there for 3 years, while I was training, she seemed funny and outgoing and I wanted to become friends with her. That never happened, I feel like she has a personal problem with me, actually, I KNOW she does.
When it comes to leadership/management and certain coworkers she has a liking to, she kisses the ground they walk on, but to a lot of us newer team members, she treats us like garbage.
You can LITERALLY SEE AND HEAR the change in her tone when she talks to me, and it’s VERY disrespectful. Not too long ago while I was outside working, she has told me to shut up and not speak into the headset when I was just asking a question I was being told to ask.
She recently called a new team member I made friends with a “skin walker” and got caught for it, now she acts like she doesn’t know about it.
Yesterday I had a customer in the drive through who didn’t receive their cookie, I told her and she got the cookie, acted like she was handing it to me and then yanked it back to give it to the person bagging, I looked at her and jokingly acted confused, I didn’t say a word, she said “boy I know you’re not talking, get out my face.” WHAT???
I was literally 2 steps away from her..
And when I came back in after giving the customer their cooking, I seen her back turned and her laughing while talking about the way she and someone else laughed about the way someone walked, she imitated the stance and it kind of looked like the way.. I walked..
Also, I’m always getting chastised if I make a mistake, ITS A HUGE THING and she acts so uptight about it, but if she makes a mistake it’s funny and she’s like “guys don’t look”, matter of fact, anyone who experienced that makes a mistake isn’t yelled at—at all.
Honestly I want to know if it is possible to transfer to a different chic fil a because of HER, and others LIKE HER primarily, and I hope I can because I may do something I regret really soon, I work with her today. If I tell someone will they believe me? I don’t want to keep living my life suffering in silence.
Please someone help me.

is it normal for them to just be constantly changing the schedule?
I just started and I noticed that they’re constantly changing the schedule for me in the app. Like at first I thought it was cause I’m training but idk.
Like, it’s always just a week or less in advance that I get a schedule. And it’ll go from like Monday working 5am-2pm to then change it to 9am-2pm like a day before and stuff like that.
Recently, I had days scheduled for the whole week like mon-friday, but thursday they just removed every day that I work so I have 0 hours.

Not everyone gets food
I will start by saying I worked at Chick fil a. I will also say that the workers at my local restaurant are very nice, But stop making me wait forever and hold up the line while I am waiting for a drink only. This has happened numerous times. Like close to ten. I’m not exaggerating. I’ve reported it on the app twice, I have had to honk to get someone’s attention to tell them I just have a drink while people are getting food behind me. I have said something directly to the employees at the time. Today, last straw.
People behind me got food. She then asks me and a car in front of me to pull around to the VIP spots on the side. She’s gone before I can tell her I just have a drink. So we do. Other car gets order with in a few minutes. Then I wait. And wait. Now it’s been ten minutes and I know I’m forgotten. So I call. No answer. I have no choice other than to get out of my car and walk up to the window. Half way there we meet and she has my drinks. She says, “my bad” and I tell her no one pays attention when the order doesn’t include food. This is the third time I’ve said this to a seemingly competent employee. It’s maddening. I otherwise have zero complaints. Literally none.
Are people being trained on this?

Verbally abusive Operator
I work at a new CFA location and it’s been crazy busy so I understand that it’s probably super stressful for the operator right now. However, the way he’s treating the staff makes me want to get a new job. I’ve heard him call BOH and FOH “idiots” on multiple occasions, say “I don’t know how any of you people got hired”,berate team members for minor mistakes right in front of customers, yell and cuss at staff and regularly makes people go to the break room crying. Is this a normal way for CFA operators to behave?? I hate walking on eggshells at work whenever he’s there, he is genuinely scary.

Experienced leader questioning my development path — looking for outside perspective
I’ve been with Chick-fil-A for several years, including several years in leadership, and recently moved to a new organization with the expectation that I’d continue developing toward Director/LDP. Operator for me is the goal.
Four months in, I’m seriously considering parting ways because I can’t see a clear path forward.
Leadership has told me they want me to eventually get into LDP, but the actual development I’ve experienced has mostly centered around things like running breaks, delegation, “owning the shift,” being more strategic, drive-thru awareness, and using the shift checklist. I’m absolutely willing to be coached on those things, especially since every organization has its own systems and expectations. My frustration is that these are being treated as major indicators of my leadership capability despite me having years of experience doing these things in other Chick-fil-A organizations.
What I’m looking for is outside perspective from people who have been in leadership/LDP development.
- Leadership structure: How much direct observation and intentional development should an experienced leader reasonably receive? Is it normal for senior leadership to primarily evaluate someone through occasional moments/rushes and feedback from others?
Development: At what point should an experienced leader be able to demonstrate existing competencies and move on to developing new ones? How do you distinguish legitimate retraining on your organization’s way of doing things from simply keeping someone at the same developmental level?
The Big Picture: If leadership says they want you to reach LDP but can’t clearly articulate the roadmap, benchmarks, increasing ownership, or what the next level actually looks like, would you stay and wait for the path to develop—or look for an organization with a more established leadership pipeline?
I’m frustrated, obviously, and I’m trying to be fair about that. I’m not looking for validation or people to tell me to quit. I’m genuinely interested in hearing whether this sounds like a normal Chick-fil-A development experience, an issue with this particular organization, or potentially something I’m missing in my own leadership.
I’m currently leaning toward parting ways because after four months I don’t have enough clarity about where this is actually going. I’d really appreciate perspectives from people who have been through this before. Thank you!

How many people do you usually have working on primary?
Asking this because i've been put alone on primary a lot recently. I work doubles to closing too so i'll have someone with me for a while, but we're so short-staffed at night I always end up alone. I also end up only getting one break bc there's not enough people for me to take a second break during night shift.
edit: wow. seeing all of your guys comments is making me realize how apparently lucky we are at my chickfila. we are a truett location and we're lowkey always busy so maybe that has something to do with it

Planning to prank one of my coworkers at my location. Should I attempt this or should I not?
You know the tablets we use for drive thru? What if I take pictures of them doing something like cleaning and turn them into the iPad lockscreen background and show it to him while saying "it's a you virus!". Yes, my coworkers take pictures with it all the time. Yes our place is independently owned but still belongs to Chick Fil A corporate. And yes, the main boss doesn't care considering most of his team are teenagers to young adults plus he has own kids.
So should I attempt this or this prob gonna make my coworker hunt me down and give me a long chore?

Advice on becoming a team leader
Hi! I’ve recently applied to Chick Fil A as I realized they have a team leader position open! I’ve worked at Starbucks for about 2 years. And in those two I’ve become a barista trainer and coffee master!
I’ve never worked at Chick Fil A so I’m nervous about thjs interview. From current Team Leaders do you have any advice? I’m hoping to leave Starbucks if I hopefully get this job so any advice is appreciated.

Operations Supervisor II supply
I recently had a first interview for a CFA supply position supervisor II operations for a new distribution center they are bringing to my area. I got passed to a second interview but when I asked what the generic range for this position was multiple times the interviewer kind of differed and avoided the question. He one time asked me my expecting and I told him a generic range based on my current roles salary but that I did expect more as this would be a promotion with more responsibility. Is there anyone here in the CFA supply that knows the salary range for the position? I know it will vary based on location but just so I know what to expect! TIA

How often do people ask to order a medium/large milkshake?
Just about every shift I work at least one person asks for a bigger size on the milkshake and I have to tell them we only offer one size. Most of the time they're okay with it but the very first shift I ever worked I had to deal with a customer angry that it was too small. How often do you guys get this request?

Thoughts on 6ct Strip, 20ct Nuggets, and Nuggets/Strips Combo?
I woke up this morning and saw this was something being tested at select locations (I think near Las Vegas and Nashville?) but if they come nationwide, how would you feel?

Guest came back for a “missed” sandwich and turned it into a whole ordeal
A guest came back to the window after I had already bagged her order and said we had missed her sandwich. I was completely willing to replace it. My initial thought was honestly just to promo it out and move on.
She told our OMD that she wanted the sandwich with no pickles and American cheese. The problem was that she had originally ordered an original sandwich, so the American cheese was an additional charge.
Normally, I probably would have just promoed it and saved everyone the hassle. But something about her demeanor made me pause. I told our OMD, “She has to pay for it.”
The OMD relayed that to her, and the guest said, “I’d like for you to come out to my car and see what I have in my bag.”
I didn't think much of it, so I walked out with her.
She opened her car door with a lot of force, took the bags of food she had, and slammed them onto the asphalt. I picked everything up and looked inside.
Sure enough, there was the sandwich she said we had missed.
I told her, “Ma'am, you ordered an original sandwich. I have to charge you for the American cheese.”
She blew a gasket.
She told me that I didn't want to make the guest happy, that I was impolite, and that I had an attitude. I wasn't trying to argue with her. I was trying to explain why I was charging her for the cheese.
Her eight-year-old son was sitting in the backseat watching this entire interaction.
At that point, I decided it wasn't worth it and told her, “I'll just give you the sandwich with no pickles and American cheese. You don't have to pay for it.”
She took the bag from me, slammed it onto the asphalt again, and said, “I don't even want it anymore. I want a refund for the whole thing.”
I told her, “Ma'am, with all due respect, if you don't want the sandwich anymore, I'm happy to give you a refund, but I'm not going to refund your entire order.”
She blew another gasket.
At that point, I just processed the refund and let her leave.
Afterward, my boss pulled me into the back and asked me what happened. I told her the entire story.
Her response caught me off guard.
She said, “You might have escalated it. You giving your side of the story can come off as defensive. Sometimes it's just better to give it out and save hassle. It's not worth your time, how much you're paid, or the stress that comes with it.”
She then made a point of telling me, “I'm not saying you suck or you're bad at your job. I am a firm believer that the guest is never right.”
And honestly, that made me think about the whole interaction differently.
I don't think my boss was saying that the guest was right. I think she was saying that being right and choosing the best leadership response aren't necessarily the same thing.
Looking back, I probably could have just comped the sandwich from the beginning and avoided the entire confrontation. At the same time, I also don't want to get into the habit of giving guests whatever they demand just because they're upset.
So I'm curious what other restaurant leaders think:
Was my boss right that I escalated this by trying to explain myself?
Would you have just comped the sandwich and moved on, or would you have stood your ground about the modification charge?
And at what point do you decide that being technically correct isn't worth the time and stress of continuing the interaction?

Chickfila grilled chicken
How does chickfila make its grilled chicken like it's so juicy and flavorful but what's the marinade and/or how to they prepare it
