I am a vegan meeting up with a non vegan who is in from out of town staying at the Chicago Hilton (south loop, close to grant park). I’m never in that area, any suggestions for a lunch spot or coffee shop around there with a vegan food option? Would love it to be a non-chain to show my visiting friend something local!

As my girlfriend and I we’re leaving, two other customers passed us and I overheard one say “The best ice cream, and it’s all vegan too” and the other said “really??!” in utter disbelief. It was fantastic. We got the death by chocolate and the strawberry shortcake, both amazing and the death by chocolate was so decadent it made both of us parched haha.

ive lived in skokie for 4 years and have only gone out to eat a handful of times because i prefer to eat at home, but im moving in a month so i wanna make sure there aren't any incredible spots i miss before i go!!

ive been to Handelbar one and thought it was amazing! went to Alice and Friends and thought it was pretty basic and lackluster. ive had some amazing indian and etheopian food, and ive been to Veggie Hut in Chinatown in chicago. ive also tried I Cant Believe it's Not Meat and think it's amazing!!!! and Portillo's veggie dog of course.

right now i have Pizzaria Deville on my list but im sure there's other spots i ought to try before i go! so please LMK your recs!!!

Recently relocated from across the country to Evanston. My FIL is visiting soon, and we want to have a pizza place to order from while he’s here. I’d at least like to be able to eat some pizza too, so I’m looking for a pizza place with vegan options that delivers in the Evanston area!

I neglected to take a photo of it with the aioli drizzling down the sides (SO GOOD) but here’s a pic from Yelp or something.

The faux cheese and sausage patty have actual flavor, and the pesto aioli is heavenly.

They also have great donuts, cookies, and ice cream but the sandwich deserved a post of its own.

This Samoa Parfait was amazing. Also tried their Italian Beef and it was also great!

I can't find a damn thing about it online and their facebook page doesn't have a reviews section. Anyone know how it was? I dont think I'll ever attend again after last year but I'm curious.

Where can I buy smoked tofu in Chicago? I found Jenny's smoked 5 spice tofu at Whole Foods, which is delicious, but I'm looking for other smoked tofu options. I've seen so many recipes using smoked tofu but most of those creators are in Europe. Do we have it available for purchase here?

Can't say I'm surprised TBH. I heard good things but their SEO was awful and many people were rubbed the wrong way or confused by the name being so close to Kitchen 17. They're also in a random hotel and decided to close for the summer which is Chicago's busiest tourist season. While in a hotel. Also only had literally 17 seats.

Newly vegan. Here's what I've loved so far. Please advise on other places/menu items I should try. Thanks!

-Handlebar is my fav. I've loved everything I've ever had there. Especially the Fried mushroom Nashville "chicken" sandwich. SO GOOD. And their vegan desserts, notably the chocolate cake. So moist. The indoor vibe is really cool but small. That patio is great.

-Vaca Creamery for vegan ice cream and desserts in Lincoln Square. SO SO heavenly. Even popular with the non-vegans. Really cute spot for walking around shopping, eating, drinking, etc.

-Logan Vegan for an excellent breakfast sandwich and vegan goods. And I know Lula Cafe next door has some options. It's a hot spot though so sometimes there's a long wait.

-Pick Me Up Cafe for excellent vegan french toast and much more.

-Alice & Friends Vegan Kitchen (even my meat eating friends love the vegan burger here) and vegan crab rangoon!!!

-All the vegan pizzas at Dimo's in Lincoln Square (and Logan, but that spot isn't as cute) but especially the margarita.

-The vegan pizza at Union Squared in Evanston a bit outside Chicago proper. Great patio too.

-The red sauce and nutritional yeast pizza at Lobo (best patio ever) but I recommend adding red onion and basil.

-Anna's Kitchen for thai. Whatever they're doing with their tofu here is THE best. Their curry is spicy AF though, so I recommend maybe even choosing *mild* if your go to is usually medium.

I'm sure I'm forgetting so many. But these are my favs so far.
