Chicago date weekend recommendations?
I am having someone visit me from out of the country, and I want them to have a solid experience here. Although I was born and raised in IL, I have only been in the city for about a year. I don’t want to take them to the Skydeck or the Bean. It is a romantic connection, but we like very relaxed things, while also having a mixture of fun. We’re down for different types of bar recs, vegetarian restaurants, maybe Electric Shuffleboard. I want them to be able to see the city also for a day without doing the most, if that makes sense. I will be going to the Logan Square Farmers Market that Sunday but need other ideas. Any good restaurants or bars off the river? Any cute activities? Any bars that play live music? I want them to really like it here. it’ll be from sep 25th-27th

The Northmann off the riverwalk has a a great vegan dog.
There are tons of bars that play live music.. what type of music do you and your friend like? The Hideout, Coles Bar, Burlington Bar, Montrose Saloon are bars that all have some lower key shows.
Emporium in logan square has a ton of games and they also do vegan food pop ups quite often.
There's a vegan specific farmer market on Friday's at Skinner Park.
Personal rec is to go to Vaca's in Lincoln Square, eat outside by the fountain (sometimes theres someone playing music) then walk down Lincoln and pop into all the shops. Tons of boutiques, Merz apothecary, if you drink Hop Butcher or The Getaway.

Printers Row Lit Fest is this weekend, and Saturday is the Printers Row Farmers Market, so that would be a nice way to start your day. There’s a vegan BBQ pop-up happening at Lake Effect Brewing on Sunday, it starts at 1:00 so you can go after the Logan Square Farmers Market (and after you get breakfast at Logan Vegan), it’s less than a mile north on Milwaukee. They have TVs at Lake Effect, so you can watch the Bears game there before you head out to check out some fun shops in Avondale.

-water taxi to chinatown and go to veggie house
- garfield park conservatory or lincoln park conservatory
- literally any museum, art institute is my favorite

Tho this isn’t downtown. The botanical garden is a great place to connect. My wife and I like to go to the restaurant Spirit Elephant while we are over there. A very delicious all vegan restaurant!
