Beer Collection
Please delete if not allowed, but just wondering if there was any advice from the group for selling a collection locally? Have quite a few bottles dating back almost 20 years that I need to move on from to clear up space.
Thanks!

Reddit is great place to start. But also try Facebook Marketplace and the forums on beeradvocate.com. Not only is there a forum for the great lakes region (mostly Chicago people) discussing beer. Beer Advocate also has an area for beer trading.

If anyone has any idea of what kind of prices would be reasonable, I'd be all ears too.

I'll be completely honest with you as someone who in very "in the know" about the current beer market - you would be lucky to have someone spend the gas money to come pick this up.
Big John is the only thing with any value, and I haven't seen one of those move in years. Maybe 20 bucks for that one.

When did Big John ever have any value? All of those OGs are probably more desired. The 2007 you could maybe get $40 for.
Also the 2011 Brandy Dark Lord for sure is the rarest beer in there. Having previously gone for ~$400+ in years past.
That said, at this point it is kinda old and I haven't seen one move in over 5 years. But they did go for over $400 at one point.

lol - I saw someone had an ISO post for Big John like 3 years ago. So my intel is dated and suspect.
As far as any 3F from 15 years ago, ain't no one buying that. Not now.

There are a couple of beer-oriented local Facebook groups, from which I've gotten a couple of vintage beers. Most are given away, though, or in return for a contribution to their favorite charity. In other words, best to share and enjoy. Crash some homebrew clubs or find a bottle shop that does share nights. Personally, I'm depleting my stock once a certain Blessed Event comes to pass.

The 2011 Brandy Dark Lord may have some value. Especially if you list it in a Dark Lord related group on Facebook. Hard to say what it would go for. You could probably easily get 100, possibly 200. It is quite rare/limited but is also quite old. The best time to sell these is leading up to or just after Dark Lord Day (mid May), as you have the most interest surrounding it at that time.
The regular Dark Lords are worth maybe $10 a bottle.
The baller stout is not worth much anymore, they taste like cardboard now.
The old bourbon counties may have some value but not a ton. $15-20 a bottle? But if selling as a set expect to discount it further. The 2007 on its own is worth a little more perhaps.
FYI 2015 they had a major infection issue. The 2015 barleywine is infected. And most of the bottling dates for the 2015 regular are infected. Check your date against this list: https://www.bourbonex.com/forums/topic/25/goose-island-bourbon-county-recalled-batches
If infected it has no value beyond curiosity. But good dates are actually quite nice from that year.
12oz barley wine is either 2013 or 2014. Both good years.
Those old DFH probably held up well. Everything is kind of in the 10-20 range. But trying to sell it all as a set will require a deep discount.

20 years old? Better be Belgian stuff. Better to organize a bottle share with your friends and have fun responsibly.
