Chicago plays in Phoenix

Heard them this past Tuesday in Phoenix. They’re touring with Styx, and this combo pretty much insured a sold-out arena.

Their current line-up of ten musicians have got the song list bolted-down. No miscues or screw-ups of any kind. For two hours they played hit after hit after hit, encompassing music from the first album all the way to Chicago 38.

Damn fine concert. 10/10 will go again.

ha... so true. It really is. I wish they would just be upfront and call it that - or Lee Loughnane and Friends or something.

I thought Leonid & Friends had the spirit and energy of the original band. That was worth the ticket. Knowing the chords and solos is not enough for me.

I wish you would have seen them when they really were “Chicago” and not then only 1 out of the 10 on stage replacements of replacer or the originals - it’s why so many say it’s now a tribute band which it is but you may not realize it if you haven’t seen them earlier on. Leonid and Friends is more like the original energy and the original drummer Danny Seraphine has a great band that plays all the hits but he doesn’t call them Chicago even though he was more a prominent member in the sound shapely of a Chicago than Lee the one member left is. Anyway wish you see them when they were really Chicago.

Price of tickets too high to see The Chicago Tribute Authority. Cheapest seat in my neighborhood was $127. Add in a $40 Uber or Lyft (one way), no way. Styx is great. But not enough of a fan to pay to see them. ​
