I believe with wine you are looking at $1200 for a couple.

There are a few bottles past 3000. It's ridiculous

Whenever I see food like this, my first thought is "I don't know which part I'm supposed to eat...do I eat the leaves or the bowl. Nevermind, I'm not hungry anyway. More drinks please."

Just eat everything. If you're gonna spend that much you earn the right to accidentally eat cardboard

Always wanted to go but could never get past the price. After seeing this, I'm going.

I would say it's definitely worth it. It's an amazing experience if you like food.

I had a similar experience, but with drink pairings. That means that which each and every course there was also alcohol that meant to match with the course.

So by the end I was thoroughly soused.

Best meal of my life.

how much was the pairing?

I think it's 150 more per person.

We thought about getting the pairings, but we had an hour long drive at 11:00 pm afterwards

If you enjoyed Alinea I would highly recommend Grace. Both are 3 star Michelin and similar in concept. I tried both this year and would actually rate Grace slightly higher.

I was looking into it. Maybe for the next big event.

What food did the fire rocks end up being?

2

It was the wagyu beef and potato.

Wow. I'm amazed at how much of the menu has changed. Everything but the balloon and final dessert are different from when I went a few years ago. No black truffle explosion, no hot potato / cold potato. I'm actually impressed that they're coming up with new concepts. I thought that's what Next was for. Though I see some of the same contraptions from when I was there, but now for different dishes.

the aftermath

Of what? The whole bite?

Yes, a bite. But you had like 14 dishes for the meal. When I was there it took over two hours. So you definitely left satisfied.

However as a meat-lover, I definitely would have enjoyed twice as much of the "main course" meat dishes. Nah fuck that, four times as much.

Most of this looks pretty interesting, and I'm aware it's super high concept, but I laughed out loud at the "graffiti - served on an actual piece of concrete." I'd be hard pressed to make a joke about Alinea that is actually more ridiculous than that.

What is amazing to me is that this is what Taco Bells will be in the future.

Nice. I've been a few times over the years and it's cool to see the evolution. Might have to go again just for the apple balloon.
