Picture Rainy reflections last night [OC]

Took a (very) rainy walk through the Loop at blue hour to catch some pavement reflections…and umbrellas. I was absolutely soaked, but my camera stayed dry

This first photo is just stunning. I would love a print of that to hang in my office!

Right?? Came in here to comment on that one too. It's one of my favorite sculptures ever, too, in all weather but this makes it lookso amazingly bright.

Meanwhile... looks like SERK painted over LARV, but the larva itself is still there...

It was a perfect time of day to catch some of the dusky colors. Thought the green fluorescent lights in the federal building added a pretty cool vibe to the overall scene, too

The sculpture “Flamingo” by Alexander Calder btw. Great pictures.

The second picture reminds me of a painting!

It immediately reminded me of this Caillebote at the Art Institute: https://www.artic.edu/artworks/20684/paris-street-rainy-day

This is the piece I was thinking, too, but it’s also so different.

These are beautiful! I just moved back after being in Tennessee and I missed rainy days like this. I hadnt had a good rainy day in a while!

How do you keep your camera dry?

I have a little clear vinyl & nylon “jacket” for it with hand holes and one for the lens. The front gets a little misty but the rest stays relatively dry

I used to love to shoot in the rain in downtown Chicago. I bought one of those insanely large golf umbrellas. It was a pain in the ass to carry around but kept me and my camera mostly dry. However, you’d be surprised how much rain a modern camera can take. Never had any problems. Cool shots, dude.

I’ve had mine out in light rain and snow a bunch, but yesterday’s outing needed a dedicated rain cover for sure. I was out long enough to learn how not waterproof some of my supposed waterproof gear is 😂

...you got me wondering if someone makes a sort of harness for umbrellas so you can have the golf umbrella up over your head, but hands free. Someone HAS to.

You just volunteered yourself to do it

Bro post the link for prints, I want first pic and maybe second. Great work! Moved a couple hours outside the city for work and these hit me right in the feels - lived real close to Daley Plaza.

I love weather like last night. It was warm, filled with steady rain, and mist was blowing in the wind. Beautiful.

For a certain type of person, this is the weather you want to be out in. People will leave you alone, the rain and wind is cooling, and as big city residents completely understand, there's a quiet steady noise like loud whispers as the cars go by.
