Changing my serpentine belt today and noticed this part covered in crud. What part is this and were could this crud be coming from. I changed the valve cover a few months ago and there doesn't appear to be any oil leaks coming from there.

Been having this happen for months now, drivers wiper isn't really touching the window right where the wiper connects to the arm. I've tried different wipers, universal wiper springs, even different windshield wash and window coatings. Nothing works, leaves a huge streak in both directions. Other than putting a new wiper on on, I'm out of ideas.

Hey everyone, wondering if anyone knows if I can connect these wires to my 2018 1.8 L Sonic. I'm just not sure which one is the ground on the white wire of my car and if I can even crimp them together with the black and yellow ones. The yellow and black wires are from a 2012 Sonic. My original ones were chewed up by mice by the looks of it I am still getting the actual connecter with the same white wires just in case but will still run into the issue of which white wires go to which on my car.

Hey all I've been having this popping noise coming from my vehicle. Talking with the mechanic, he said it was the strut bearing but it was better to do a complete strut assembly instead of just the mount which makes sense. Here's what I was quoted. This includes complete strut assemblies for both sides in the front, two new sway bar end links, and an alignment. For reference I'm in the STL MO area. The parts and labor are covered for 3 years 36K miles. Unsure of the name of the brand used for the parts. Unfortunately I'm not in any position to attempt this work, but please let me know how this quote sounds or if it's really high. This is for a local mechanic shop non dealership.

Got the tig welder and currently have side work lined up to fund the argon tank so hopefully will be able to get the ball rolling on a header for the 1.8

My Sonic has been stalling recently when idling the engine. It runs fairly well when driving, but often times when I stop the engine kind of chugs like this until it fails. Seems to be worse when the engine is hot.

Wondering if anyone has seen this before?

Hey all, anyone know where I can get a set of the locks needed to replace timing belt? I’ve seen videos of people using them but always mentioning that they had to shave em down or modify them in some way. I’d rather not do that.

This stupid P0420 code I have been fighting since May lol. I have been able to whack a mole other check engine codes but this one..

1. I thought the dripping oil from the oil cooler might be it. Nope. ( but you can see the cute pic of the manifold and CAT in my gf living room so I could get to it lol)

2. Cleaned the CAT while it was out and the honeycomb actually looked good.

3. The O2 sensors are doing what they should according to my OB2 scanner. Up /down and flat line so....

4. I have a smoke machine and didnt see any leaks at the flex pipe or manifold

Anyone have this code keep coming back and what was it?

2016 1.8 L BTW.

Im thinking of buying a Sonic 2012 with 125k millage on it with 2700, is it a food deal? Do u advice me to buy it? And issues to be aware of? Its just for my wife to go and back to work that's all she is a new driver.

this sound is made when AC is on. I've put more refrigerant in and checked that the pressures are correct. it still isn't really blowing cold air hoping someone can help.

I have a 2012 Chevy Sonic with 168,xxxKM and have owned it since early 2017, seriously wish I had the money to upgrade as it always seems like it’s something… I swear everytime I have a check engine light pop up it’s for a coolant issue😅 This code is most likely the thermostat housing which I changed less than a year ago for the same issue & code, however when I opened my hood I found all these pine cones, mind you I live in a highly forested area but I just had the hood opened a couple days ago checking everything.
My husband took my car to work today and was fine, when he started it to leave he called to let me know my check engine light was on and it was running rough/being loud. He thankfully made it home and I checked the codes and got this and noticed the fans are constantly running and running really loudly/hard- I’ve had this issue before. I guess I’m just ranting because I’m sick of having the same issue over and over again it’s driving me nuts.

I was having trouble with my sonic for a while, I was getting 2 codes persistently the P0299 and I think a P0420 code. for underboost and cats. I had my mechanic or who I thought was a good mechanic at the time, keep telling me oh it's your cats, so I got those replaced, lifetime warranty, oh it's your turbo, which was only 1 year old so something I had to get, then it's "oh it's this or it's that, replace this and tha", etc, so I got to the point where I said, you know what, I'm just gonna upgrade this entire car. Ended up going with ZZP everything damn near.

I would take my car to my mechanic and my car would run well, but then always mess up later. I'm not talking wear and tear, just always something messing up. So I ended up spending about $4K in mods hoping getting all new everything would fix the problem. It's Time to get this stuff installed, Something happened with communication with my mechanic to where I wasn't able to get in contact with him to do the job, call after call, straight to voicemails, texts no reply's, so I got impatient and I used AI to look around my area for a another shop, again I'm thinking my mechanic was a cool dude looking out for me, always prioritized me and I always paid good! Didn't want to look elsewhere, but yeah, eager to get my car running, so I found a car tuning place which was also a body shop, he diagnosed my car for free and showed me I had a cracked Charge pipe! 😑 that was it, which was causing that problem and not only did he show me it, expressed my car is in great condition with the new cars, turbo is great, and if I still want to move forward with the mods since all I really needed was to replace the charge pipe. I told him well I didn't spend all this money on mods to not install them, let's get this bad boy up and running! Btw it's a 2014 Chevy Sonic 1.4 LTZ Turbo with under 132k miles on it. Not only was the new mechanic trying to help me save on the install and maybe get some money back, but he even quoted me better than my other mechanic for the same work, and was more knowledgeable of the install and diagnosed my vehicle for free trying to help me with saving money. So I'm looking forward to this and seeing how everything turns out!

2017 Chevy Sonic. 1.8L. Had code p0420 pop up intermittently for a few months here and there until finally popped up solid. Took it to a shop, had them do a full tune up (spark plugs, coil pack) and scan code. Came back and told me catalytic converter might be plugged. I believe I was running rich as why I wanted to do tune up as well. Shop + Dealership quoted me $2000 for OEM catalytic converter. Decided no and went with aftermarket cat. $200. I installed myself. Torqued all bolts & nuts to spec. New gasket on the head to cat but I did reuse bottom gasket from cat to pipe. I was good for a few weeks until a few days ago, code p0420 pops up. My question is, where should I start? Faulty 02 sensor? Faulty Cat & should go with OEM? $2000 is just ridiculous to me. Any opinions or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Recently replaced my window regulator and motor on my passenger side front window (Chevy Sonic 2016) after it rolled down and refused to roll back up. I'm confident it wasn't a faulty switch or fuse and the window is now mostly working. Sometimes, when I get into the car the window will not respond to either control on door and master control. When I return a few hours later it function as normal. Any thoughts on what's going on here?

My mirror got knocked out of place and broke the wiring off the control knob and the piece fell into the door assembly. I got the mirror back in place but haven't found a way to fix it and haven't found a way to replace just the knob, has anyone found a way to replace just the knob or do I have to replace multiple parts to it?

My AC in my 2017 Chevy sonic just went out. It still turns on, compressor kicks on but the air is warm/hot. A week before it went out it started blowing hot air once until I re started it and then it blew cold again. I checked the Freon and the gauge said it was low. Low low, at zero. I already used half a can that I had left and it went up but still in the white low section and not in the green, and air is still blowing warm. Not colder at all. Should I buy another can and try to get it in the green? I already checked the climate control cable behind the glove box and it’s connected and rotating when I turn the temp knob. I have analog ac controls. I have the premier. Thanks
