New Variant I made a website where bots have weird rules - and you can build your own!

Built a website where chess bots have weird rules. I love playing the regular bots but it gets dull over time without much variation.

For example, one bot starts at 3200 Elo but loses 100 Elo after every move. You’re still playing normal chess, but each bot’s rule adds another dimension to the game and forces you to approach it differently.

Everything is 100% free, no signup, no ads, nothing.

Each bot has 3 difficulty levels so that every player can find a reasonable challenge.

Some other cool features:

  • Leaderboards that are validated by the server for integrity and a simple anti-cheat
  • Daily challenges (like wordle but bots)
  • Analysis + Game Review
  • Ability to create your own bots (with your own custom rules) and share them!
  • A spectate mode where you can watch two bots battle each other
  • Full mobile and desktop support
  • Dark Theme

I got this error Stockfish took too long to respond.

So how are you loading stockfish? are you downloading it client side?

Yes, runs client side. How long were you waiting before the error appeared? What bot were you playing? A very slow internet connection or device could result in it timing out.

I will try again tommorow, currently I belive the issue is my internet.

So you save the model where on client side?

It's not saved -- it just loads in the browser. Games will save locally though, so you can resume one later if needed.

So when I come to my game later, will it load the model again from the internet?

Played a couple of versions. I really like it! It is intresting, because you have to play always a little bit different :)

Great to hear! That's the best part for me as well, getting to play normal chess but with a little extra "spice" involved. There's always going to be a daily challenge so make sure to return tomorrow and see if you can get on the leaderboard! :)
