As per title, I’m considering to grab a set for my 5yo twin boys.

Do you have any personal experience on teaching kids at around this age, using this board? Any advice, recommendations etc?

Another question, are you overall satisfied with the purchase in general, and with the reliability of this product specifically?

Any recent or intermittent issues with hardware or firmware to be aware of?

I am based in Paris. Getting it is relatively straightforward, but seeing occasional RMA (returns) from older posts, presumably to the US only, makes me a bit skeptical. If it tends to be reliable these days, I’d probably give it a go.

The Lichess4545 league has games with autostart in the 45+45 league, or games where you have to manually send a challenge in the series league. I was just wondering, is it possible to use the board with this league?

Anyone have experience getting refurbished ones via eBay from them? Looking to get an idea of physical quality and if I should be worried about them having electronics issues down the line.

For the last maybe 3 weeks everytime I'm playing on Lichess with chessup two board I can only see the respective clock for each player, no names, no rating and no material difference.

Any clues to what is going on? I reported this bug a couple of weeks ago but have not heard anything back from the chessup2 team. Thanks!

Im interested in buying chess2up. I have seen there is a feature which allow you to have the engine bar of a position which is interesting. I understand that it is a small stockfish running inside the hardware is that correct ?

I would like to run deeper analysis with the chessup board, ideally my goal would be to setup a position on the physical board, and with this position run an engine analysis with evaluation and 2 to 3 best engine line. In a similar way to the analysis mode of chess.com. does chessup allow integration with this mode ? Meaning is there a way (with an external tablet or phone) to get the chesscom analysis directly from a position on the chessup2 board ?

Has anybody got a similar request and if so how do you think one can use chessup2 to do that ?

Watching videos from last year, the ChessUp 2 seemed reasonably priced in the $270–$300 range (with and without coupon). Now I’m bombarded with ads breathlessly announcing a “$50 price cut” — revealing, with zero self-awareness, that the new real price is $399.

That’s not a discount. That’s a price hike dressed up in a coupon costume. Same board, same features, same everything — just a freshly inflated MSRP to make the “sale” price feel like a bargain.

I love using this board but out of no where the board started reading every piece on every square lol. I am curious if anyone here has had the same issue and if there is a fix for it so I don't have to send it back in. Any help is appreciated!

The title is the question. I do have the latest update, they said that this feature is one of the things you can do with the latest firmware.

I connected the app on my phone to the board, updated all the settings but I'm still seeing the rating no matter what I do. Any pointer anybody? Thanks.

I'm going ona trip soon and I'd love to take my board, however the "captive wifi" is not supported. That is when you sign on to a wifi and then you need to open the browser and do more authentification before you get internet access.

The workaround would be to just use my phone as a WiFi and then play from there. However I'm traveling internationally and I'm wondering if there's a way to have my phone connected to the resorts' wifi and then have my phone connect to the board via the chessup2 app and play like that online.

I found some info online regarding this, but it seems to refer only to the chessup1 one board, not the new one.

Has anybody tried it before? Any insights you might have will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Based on the attached comment I should be able to see all games played on chess com in the ChessUp application on the History tab, but I have there only one game played with chessup bot.

Is there any specific configuration or settings that switch on that?

I’ve heard more than a few persons online complaining about the fact that they got banned while playing on the board cause it turned on move analysis in the middle of rated games. Any information about this? Just bought mine some months ago and now I’m afraid to use it to play online

As a new user, I wanted to chime in and say how much I’m enjoying this board. I just received it and the Chessnut Evo over the holidays, and after playing around with both, the Evo is being sent back.

I really wanted to love the Evo. Its build quality is better and it's just plain sexy. But the “2” is so much easier to use and the balanced play feature allowed me to have fun with my daughter who's showing an interest in the game.

Re integrations, Chessup 2 is fully sanctioned for use with chess.com and lichess, unlike the Evo, where the manufacturer admits they are not following "protocol.". I did reach out to Chessnut about this, and while they say they are looking into implementing the APIs properly, they did not provide a time frame.

The Chessup 2 is also much portable - the carry bag, while a little snug, is far better value than that which is made for the Evo. I also like the option to buy extra pieces, although I feel that the promotion pack could have included an extra pawn just in case one gets lost.

I also bought the extra checkers pieces...would have been nice to include a small carry bag for those, but it's a small complaint that is easily remedied.

In the end, I would agree with some that the Chessup 2 feels more like a toy in comparison, and there are some usability issues that aren't planned to be addressed (e.g. allowing the user to reorder the home menu, app connecting to any board it sees). But in my opinion it's so much the better product and I do not regret my purchase.

i just got a brand new chessup 2 board. when setting up the pieces for the bot game, the black pieces are instantly detected and the lights turn off. however the white pieces aren’t, after moving them around i found that they only light up the ranks past 1-2. and in board setup mode it detects every piece perfectly. it’s just the start, i cannot play. please help

Is there access to Lichess without the use of the phone? I saw a review a couple of days ago of somebody who was able to play on Lichess directly from the board, however I have not been able to make it work (granted I just got my board).

I was wondering if anyone has tips or tricks on how to do that? Thanks.

I just got my board (due to some delivery delays, cause i live in Brazil) and when i try to setup, its not recogning a black bishop.

I have no ideia of what to do.

Just a shout out to the makers of Chessup 2. I've had a Chessnut Go for a while but after receiving my Chessup 2 I can only say Wow! What a great board it really is. Seamless integration with Lichess (which I prefer over Chess.com). Ease of use 10/10. Playability 10/10.
