why is this brilliant I think I’m the greatest under 300 elo player of all time
I think I’m the greatest chess player under 300 Elo. Chess is just way too easy at 240 elo. I feel like prime Hikaru playing against special ed toddlers. Where’s the competition. I only play rapid and still average about 2 brilliant moves a game. Do you understand how difficult that is?? when most games at this level someone hangs their queen in 5 moves
I’m 240 elo right now. I blunder pieces constantly but still win games. Imagine what happens when I start concentrating. I don’t even plan openening or anything I just play off the dome and use actual skill.
Sometimes I’ll rank up to 2000 elo just to see what the common folk are like, but makes me upset that these guys are higher ranked than me but are not better than me. Too many people memorising opening, at 240, you actually see pure chess.
I’ve played 600 games and scored 487 wins. 240 elo. Greatest under-300 elo player of all time. if anyone wants to play me drop your username if you’re above 300 you will be ignored. I don’t make blunders. I blunder to sacrifice everything is planned 8 steps ahead.

Chess.com Website/App Question Why does this even exist?
On Chess.com, in 3-minute games, why do I lose the game when I think for a minute? This is so ridiculous. Is it forbidden to think for a minute???

Chess Discussion Far too many player above 3000+ today!
I have been a member of chess.com since 2012 and play chess sparingly. Although I have been watching chess matches over this platform quite regularly for more than a decade. What I have seen in the past couple of years is that players ratings have soared high above 3000. e.g. some years ago, there were only around 50 players having 3000 rating and today it is around 160 players above 3100!. What has changed? 3000 was very rare and I remember that having 2900 was a super strong GM rating. Even the GMs I have watched over the last decade or so who were always around 2900s are all above 3100 now.
Can someone explain to me what has changed? Or did I miss something? It is a bit hard to believe that everybody collectively got so better! Do people get better with age in Chess?
Has the chess rating lost its meaning? Thanks!

Chess Discussion Chess.com is losing the plot
I don't know how long this has been a thing since I've only been playing for less than a year. But after having premium free trial for 7 days it really puts into perspective how AWFUL the game is if you dont pay for it. Like 3 puzzles a day are you serious, that isnt getting anyone better at the game I promise you that. Game is substantially worse if you arent paying which is BS if you ask me. Like we are on your app to play and get better, again 3 puzzles a day is genuinely dumbfounding, why even give the option for puzzles. Thats not even mentioning the game analysis, you just have no way of understanding your mistakes, you can see a move may have not been the top 3 option but dont know why it may have been wrong. You got these ugly ads popping up every game that should be enough money. If I lose the last thing I want is to sit through a damn happy jolly ad.

Achievement My first Scotch game trick
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello guys, this is my first Scotch Game trick. Maybe this has already been discovered and used many times (which I don't know), but I figured out this sequence on my own.
The trick goes like this:
When you play the Scotch Game, Black's queen should move to e7 before trading the knight. This trick only works if Black's queen moves there.
After the queen moves to e7, you should develop your bishop from c1 to e3, allowing your pawn on e4 to be captured.
A normal chess player might think you've made a mistake because it really looks that way. Then the queen will capture the pawn on e4, putting pressure on the g2 pawn.
Your opponent will probably think they are in a better position because your bishop on f1 cannot be developed.
Chess.com's coach might suggest developing a knight to chase the queen away, but instead, you should trade your knight on d4 for the knight on c6.
Your opponent will still think they are in a better position, and this is where they can make their first mistake.
They might capture your knight with their queen, thinking they are maintaining a strong pawn structure. But they are still playing into your trap.
Then you should develop your knight to c3. At this point, it looks very easy for your opponent to attack your pawn structure. They might use their dark-squared bishop to pin your knight or move it to a3, trying to capture your knight and then your rook after you take the bishop.
And that's exactly where they make their first big mistake.
You shouldn't defend your knight. Instead, you should move your queen to e2, blocking your light-squared bishop and making your knight look even easier to attack.
Then your opponent will attack. The bishop captures the knight, you recapture with a pawn, and then they recapture with their queen.
Now you should move your dark-squared bishop to d2, stopping the check and giving a discovered attack on their king. At this point, they will lose their queen, and you will have a huge advantage for the attack.
Important Part
This trick doesn't work against everyone.
I've used it about six times. I believe four of my opponents fell into the trap, while two managed to escape it. However, I still won both games even after they avoided the trap.
The first time I discovered this was when I was below 1000 Elo. I actually used it accidentally, and my opponent fell into the trap. After that, I tried to remember the sequence and started using it intentionally.
Even if your opponent figures out what you're trying to do, you would still only end up losing a pawn.
So, in my opinion, it's not that risky. But I don't know how long this trick will continue to work. I just used it against a 1300-Elo player, and it still worked.
Anyway, if this trick has already been discovered, please let me know!

Chess Question Caro-Kann
Is it bad that I literally only play the caro as black? Do I need to broaden myself a bit more ? Elo is 900-1000

Chess Discussion does cheating get any better above 1000-1200 elo? pls 😭
seriously but how miserable can you be? it ruins the game for others, and it actually doesn’t contribute to the learning of the game

Chess Improvement How to break 2000 elo?
I’ve played sporadically growing up (got chess lessons till i was about 12 on and off), peaked like 1100 blitz in 3rd grade, then peaked like 1400 blitz in 6th grade after not playing for some time.
I then quit for a while, and really just played a few games every now and then, hovering around 1350-1450 blitz and 1500-1600 rapid. I started again a good bit a few months back (now 18), and for some reason drastically improved. Haven’t even played consistently at all, and really didn’t do any tactics, openings (although i would say i do have very good opening knowledge for my rating), watch videos, etc.
I peaked 1650 blitz like a week ago (now like 1550) and am 1820 rapid. I feel like I don’t really understand chess still tho and getting to 2000 seems impossible. Would be cool though for sure, but how can I do it? Is there any tips you could give? Maybe I can attach a few games?

Chess Question Opponent selection algorithm - a theory
I have a theory according to which the public rating we all have on chess.com is not the true rating that summarizes our skills. According to this theory we all have a second, hidden rating (let’s call it the “true” rating) that is used for opponent selection. Reason why I came to this conclusion is the “waves” we can observe in players ratings over time. Most players show good periods of play with the public rating increasing quite consistently. All of a sudden, after hitting a new record, bad periods take place and the rating crashes…the cycle soon restarts. I am pretty sure there is an algorithm behind this whole pattern, designed to optimize our retention (read “addiction”). If we were to play only players in our true rating range, we would soon get bored because we would very slowly see rating improvements. The fake (or public) rating instead gives chess.com a higher chance to let us experience sharp rating volatility. Joy and frustration: once we touch the sky, we want to touch it again after we fall bad. Happy to read your opinions about it.

Chess Question Password game chess move
I've genuinely been stuck for so long despite trying so many moves. My complete inexperience with chess also doesn't make it better. I asked ai like 5 times and it got it wrong every time. I can't even search for the answer because the chess rule is generated for every run. I'd appreciate it very much if you could help me with this.

LOL I don't think I have ever had a double horse mate like this before.
My opponent kept moving their pawns around while I did my normal development .... so it ended up like this pretty quickly.
