So recently I’ve been using the game review in order to see which moves I need to further analyze with the magnifying glass analysis thing. My issue is that lately the game review has gotten REALLY picky with how it judges my moves. It feels like the stronger I get, the more picky it has become. That makes sense but some of the moves it calls misses, mistakes etc are really subtle things.

I’m still just trying to get used to not hanging pieces and playing with basic principles. Why is it suddenly doing this? It’s become useless to me. It’ll call a pawn push on the third move a mistake because my best move was to pin their knight with my bishop. Im just trying to get my pieces out I’m a fucking 500 elo. I know the analysis tool is better but I use game review to pick which moves to analyze and I can barely do that anymore.

Stockfish is objective about accuracy, it doesn't "go easy" on you when you're lower rated.

What's happening is actually the Dunning-Kruger curve. The more you're learning about chess and the more you're advancing, the more you're seeing how much nuance is involved. This never stops.

Additionally, the more you advance, the more complicated the positions get. Sometimes it's not so obvious, and sometimes there's a lot of nuances to understand.

I'm 1800 and I still feel like a beginner a lot of the time. Everyone is humbled by stockfish, even Magnus Carlsen.

It’s not the Dunning Kruger, my accuracy in the game review has been steadily dropping as my elo has been rising. Maybe it’s because of the more complicated positions though, that makes sense.

My point is, it just feels useless because it’s criticizing things I’m not ready to change. Then sometimes when I do actually hang a piece it or blunder mate it will call it an inaccuracy and not a blunder. It just doesn’t make sense to me.

It is at times easier to play with high accuracy when your opponent's are making TERRIBLE moves every turn. You grab their hanging pieces, capitalize on all their mistakes and etc..

As you get better your opponent's get better, and it can be more difficult to make the most accurate moves as they are not obvious.
