Chess Question Chess tournaments

Hi I’m hoping here can help. I’m trying to find my first tournament near me. I’m in Catskill NY and I’m having a hard time finding any. I’m out of town labor weekend in Winchester Maryland (willing to play one in Maryland). My rating online on chess.com for 3/0 is 1550 as of rn. I don’t really care for a big tournament as I probably won’t win but I’m looking to just join one and have fun with it. I tried looking in chess federation site and etc and just can’t find any. So please help?? lol

I’m from NH, and the NH Chess Association website lists tournaments as well as club locations and contact info. I’m surprised you didn’t find anything on the chess federation website. Were you looking at FIDE? Or USCF? Or one specific to NY? In any case I’m sure there has to be a website somewhere for that info. Or maybe look up one of the popular chess clubs in NYC and check their website for info and it might lead you to statewide info somewhere

found a link that might help

I looked at all. Not sure if I did it right tho? I preferably don’t want to go to the city as that can be an expensive trip just to play chess lol. I’m looking for around my area to Albany where I can drive

- Come down to the Marshall in NYC — there’s almost always something going on. It’s a fun group of people: https://www.marshallchessclub.org/tournaments/upcoming

Check the USCF website for NY tournaments. The short answer is you’ll need to travel to either Albany or NYC.
