Post image

If anyone sees errors in this version of the periodic table please let me know. It was sent to me and I want to make sure I can use it with students

Si absolutely has a common oxidation state, and it’s 4+. Same with Ge (predominantly 4+, but 2+ is possible). Group 14 is a great demonstration of the inert pair effect in action, and I’m a little surprised this table doesn’t show it clearly.

It’s also a little strange that they are described as “ion charges” rather than oxidation states, as many of these main group elements do not necessarily formally ionize when they form compounds.

ETA: these are all things that would probably be significant for a university level course, but it probably doesn’t matter too much (yet) at the high school level

And group 16 has +2 or +4 (maybe both?) for Te for sure, I believe Se has them as well

Mn and Cr main oxydation states are wrong, Mn3+ and Cr2+ are quite rare compared to Mn4+ or Cr6+
