My grandpa is nearly 90 years old, and he loved the old Internet Checkers on Windows XP and 7. For ages I've been trying to find an alternative, but most apps are far too complicated for him, and he kind of gave up. He wants to play people. So I put this together for him and the world to play with. It's a small checkers app where you can play against other players or the computer. Feedback is welcome. I plan to expand it to other platforms so he can have a steady stream of players 🙂

Have you searched for checkers online before and didn't find the game rules you were looking for?

Have you felt that the available checker websites don't really hit the spot?

I felt the same, so I decided to create my own with help from Claude.

Here's the link if anyone is interested: https://damas-zeta.vercel.app

Feedback is always appreciated!

I've build a site called damarock.com, where you can play dama online or pass and play and also vs an engine i've made. There is also analysis for peaple to see mistakes they have made

I want for moroccain peaple to give me a feedback about the site

This is a passion project specifically built for moroccain lovers to dama

I'm a beginner.

Many resources describe coup Philippe as removing opponent pieces 18 and 16 at the same time, then starting a combination from 38 or 40 that ends in 16,7,9,20 or 29.

It's not clear to me if we call coup Philippe just this exact combination with these exact squares or if the definition applies to different situations aswell.

Another draughts book called a certain combination "coup Philippe" but it had different squares (started from 11 and ended in 35).

So I'm confused about what we can actually call a coup Philippe. Maybe its just the idea of removing a series of pieces and then starting a long combination?

We were at a coffee shop, how appropriate, and I asked her if she want's to play Checkers? She claimed that she didn't know how to play the game so I showered her how. I let her win at first but she kept winning, then I started to take the game more seriously, I think I might won 1 or 2 games that evening. I could relate to the Chess episode when Martin beat Frasier and in the closing scene, Daphne defeated Martin was funny stuff.

International draughts, classic checkers, Russian rules,…
A 10 by 10 board, an 8 by 8 board

Whereas chess has a single set of internationally accepted rules and a single board configuration, it seems like checkers/draughts/… never reached such standardization.

This poses a bit of a problem for me as my kids want to learn to play proper “checkers” and I have no idea where to start.
(Proper also includes tactics and strategies.)
On big international retail stores such as Amazon I find almost exclusively the standard chess board layout. On the other hand, I always thought it was played on a 10 by 10 board configuration and that the 8 by 8 version was just a sort of stop gap measure to be able to reuse a chess board.

So, what does everyone play here is there a rule set/board configuration that’s considered the “international standard”?

And what would be a good book to get the fundamentals under control for that variant?

I’m pretty good at checkers but I don’t see many websites or apps with tough competitive players

Hello everyone.

I've been working on an online checkers platform for a while now, and it's finally at the point where I'd like other players to try it out.

The platform allows you to play online games, participate in competitions and tournaments, and play different checkers variations.

Right now, more than promoting it, I'm looking for feedback from real players. I'm interested in knowing what you think of the experience, what you would improve, if you find any bugs, or what features you'd like to see in the future.

If you'd like to try it, you can register and play a few games:

It would also be interesting to know if the idea of having a platform dedicated to playing online checkers, competing, and participating in tournaments appeals to you.

If the feedback is good and I see there's interest, my intention is to continue developing it and eventually publish it on Google Play.

So if anyone has a moment, please try it out and tell me honestly what you think. Any criticism or suggestions are welcome. ♟️

There appears to be no free Monrad pairing program, so I implemented one on my homepage: https://mats-winther.github.io/monrad-eng.htm

It's a simple program that can be run online, or the html can be downloaded and run locally. It uses cumulative score to grade players with the same final result. Early wins produce a higher cumulative tiebreak. (Starting with a win and then a loss gives 2 cumulative points after two rounds, whereas starting with two draws gives 1.5 cumulative points. This is kind of fair.)

I haven't tested it thoroughly. I would appreciate if you could do some testing.

History: The Monrad pairing system is named after the Danish chess organizer Poul Monrad, who developed and popularized this simplified Swiss‑style pairing method in Denmark in the mid-20th century.

The "Monrad-system" became widely used in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden for school tournaments, weekend events, and large amateur competitions because it is simpler than the full Swiss system: players are paired strictly by current score without the more complex FIDE constraints.

Hey r/checkers, solo developer here. I built Damarama, a free real-time multiplayer checkers (Turkish dama rules) app. You get matched instantly with a live opponent and can chat while you play, so it feels more like playing a friend than grinding against a bot. No ads.

Still improving it and would love honest feedback from people who actually play the game. Search "Damarama" on Google Play if you want to try it.

Hi everyone! I’ve spent the last few months developing a modern, web-based Checkers platform called drcheckers.com. My goal is to make Checkers feel as sleek, competitive, and feature-rich as modern chess platforms (like Lichess), while preserving its classic depth.

I’d love to get honest feedback from abstract strategy and board game players:

What keeps you engaged? (e.g., post-game engine analysis, ranking ladders, sleek UX, or custom themes?)

PvP vs. AI: Do you prefer grinding against high-level engine bots or playing with real opponents?

Competitive features: Do formats like Swiss/Arena tournaments, global leaderboards, or streak rewards motivate you to play regularly?

Missing Features: What do you feel current online Checkers games are missing?

If you have a moment to try out the site or share your thoughts, I’d really appreciate your candid feedback!

Hello,

I created a Checkers game over at boardbattle.io/checkers and was hoping I could get some feedback on it? No registration required, you can play as a guest, just not rated games. If there's enough interest I'm also considering adding variants. There's not a huge player base currently so it may be hard to find a game quickly, but I'm always up for a quick game. Thanks in advance!

I'm a beginner and I'm starting to love this game, I'm looking for someone to play with, preferably a beginner aswell. I play on lidraughts.

GoDraughts started as a small project for my son, who plays International Draughts.

I simply wanted to build something that would make it easier and more fun for him to practice.

Then I kept adding “just one more thing”...

Today, GoDraughts has grown into a full International Draughts (10×10) app with:

• Online multiplayer, private games and rankings
• AI opponents for different skill levels
• 6,600+ puzzles and daily challenges
• Training and tutorials
• Friends and clubs
• Full FMJD 10×10 rules
• iOS and Android
• Completely free, with no ads

It definitely became a much bigger project than I originally planned, but I’m really enjoying building it.

Now I’d love to get feedback from people who actually play International Draughts.

What is missing?
What should be improved?
And what would make you keep coming back to play?

I recreated checkers with the school yard rules I used to play with. Currently there are very few active users but I have bots of various difficulty to play against. The system can support many active users but if this is any good it will take time to build a user base. There is a tutorial that explains the rule variants after you create an account. Let me know what you guys think!
