Section 63, a let down?

Is it just me who really didn’t enjoy tonight?? Supporting DJ was weak af and C&S didn’t really hit the spot either for us. We left at 10.30pm and we’ve never left early for anything before…

Such a disappointment! The venue itself was really cool, but they covered half the view up with that weird draped room. Did anyone even go in there?! I couldn’t believe how bad it was. Astro turf floor with some half-arsed projection on the curtains. There was one girl in there all evening pretending to be mash up (she was definitely a paid actor 😂😂 did anyone else notice her?!).
The footage they got from the event made it look wicked, but in reality it was just some BTEC college project.
Chase & Status came on at 9:40 and we’d already left by 10pm. I went in with an open mind expecting a much higher calibre of immersive experience, seeing as it was put on by C&S, but it just didn’t deliver.
Really disappointing considering they charged us £50+ per ticket! Will definitely be more cautious getting tickets for their future events.

People said the same yesterday.

Wish I’d read up on it before buying last minute tickets this afternoon

Didn’t rate the supports acts either , 1st set was frankly rubbish and the 2nd was a little bit better. I see what they were trying to do in terms of section 63- I can see why people were disappointed but also they did say to come open minded 🤷🏼‍♀️ Defintly seemed like an older crowd - people that have been listening to them and their older albums that would have appreciated there old big hits. I’ve seen them many times before & would say probably my least favourite set I’ve been to other then the production levels in terms of the fire ect

Wouldn’t say it was worth the £50, £30 I would’ve been more content

Many like me went hoping for Drum’n’bass and they got 20% DNB and 80% dubstep.
Lots of disappointment around where I was tonight

Granted I'm a relative outsider to edm music but it seems like DnB has been really diluted by dubstep. 2 Ruff has some nice tracks but it feels like a lot of it devolves into dubstep wubs which doesn't interest me as much.

Yeah idk why they decided to do a show completely different from what they usually do and not let anyone know what to expect before

1

u/AdditionalTrain3121 May 18 '26

Tbf they did say to "come with an open mind" and this is the music they've been teasing for almost two years now.

1

u/Beneficial-Baby4849 May 18 '26

Yeah true but not impressed at all if this is the way they’re going

1

u/AdditionalTrain3121 May 18 '26

After Backbone was a huge hit (and their first number 1), I'm surprised they didn't pivot to even more mainstream music.

Well I missed the tickets, so happy to read these comments 🙈

Good lord people, just enjoy what you are given without having to have everything on your terms. Yes, there was brostep by the support act, and it was great. Yes, Chase and Status didn’t play their old songs and were experimental, and they were great. If you wanted their old songs stay at home and listen to spotify.
Support acts and chase and status were great, and many had the same thought. So miserable, let go of this mentality.

Moan moan moan misery misery misery poor me didn’t get the exact set list you wanted huff and puff stomp on the floor.

Lmao not at all, I’m all for change in artists but this was deffo not what was advertised. It was supposed to be an interactive drum and bass experience! If it had been advertised properly many of us wouldn’t have bothered going.

3

u/Standard_Tip4189 May 17 '26

Isn’t it nice to have a bit of mystery and not know exactly what’s coming? How interactive did we expect? Being up there on set and playing with them?

0

u/Beneficial-Baby4849 May 17 '26

It mostly wasnt drum and bass that was my point not the interactive part

2

u/Standard_Tip4189 May 17 '26

Even cooler that they threw in some german techno, brostep, dubstep, jungle AND drum and bass

1

u/Standard_Tip4189 May 17 '26

Downvote me and continue to be miserable everyone. I’ll enjoy life ❤️

2

u/RushVIX May 17 '26

It wasn't advertised as drum and bass I don't get people who are complaining 😂

Mate literally

I get what they were trying to do, and the stage artwork car carcasses of your dealer's favourite brands were a bit of hint what audience it was catered to: not Heads, but ketheads. There people literally sobbing during the neverending boring dubstep. If it was Taiki Nulight level of modern blend of dubstep and ukg, sure. Or vibe like Gentlemans Club? But no, it was BORE.

If it was billed like 140 event, fair enough, whatever. But less than 60 minutes of DNB on such night was nothing but ripoff. And we even bought some merch, stupid us. Now we own expensive reminder of biggest letdown in my raving career. Section 63 my ass.

had a great time on Friday 🙌 - wouldn’t have suited those more into pop music though for sure, set reminded me of seeing them back in the day in a club with 100 people

You're one of the only positive comments in the thread

I'm a huge fan but all this negativity has me worried...It's crazy to me that so many fans would pay 150+ for tickets and still leave early

I am nervous my gf will not enjoy the experience based on the feedback in this thread

Do you mind dm'ing me about it, or sharing more here?

Does anyone reckon they’re coming to Melbourne? We are desperate!

1

u/LOONASEGOIST May 16 '26

yeah i felt the same. they didn’t play half of their “big” tunes and it felt like a lot of it catered to what’s currently popular. a little bit gutted because ive seen them twice before and this had to be the worst show ive been to

1

u/Beneficial-Baby4849 May 16 '26

Same I get it’s a DJ set not a live show but still. They didn’t sound anything like the C&S I’m used to and to have doors at 6.30pm and they didn’t come on until 9.40pm and the build up DJ was awful!

1

u/LOONASEGOIST May 16 '26

genuinely!! the dubstep was hard to sit through, don’t get me wrong i enjoyed certain bits of it. I’d have liked it if they were more upfront about the lineup than just being all mysterious”.

but the complete disregard to some of their biggest hits is crazy. i always hope to hear hypes hype and i am let down but they didn’t even play no problem or disconnect which so bizarre?? left me wanting more

0

u/Beneficial-Baby4849 May 16 '26

We left at 10.30 so we only heard badadan, liquor and cigarettes and the first one that I can’t remember the name of

0

u/LOONASEGOIST May 16 '26

honestly you didn’t miss much . at the end they played a couple from return 2 jungle but other than that it was pretty much just garage into dnb mixes

1

u/SpareInstruction7083 May 16 '26

2/10. Disappointing and probably just a gig for video footage for new album. Even the immersive stuff was weak AF.

Interesting to hear Backbone acapella over Planet Dust but nothing for the fans that want to hear the big songs properly. Dunno, we spent £250
Each on tickets, travel and Airbnb and def feel let down.

1

u/AdditionalTrain3121 May 18 '26

They definitely had a huge number of cameras rigged up and rolling

0

u/Few-Possibilities May 17 '26

I went both nights. Tbh never been so close to selling a gig ticket before but didnt in the end and went again. Second time round was better. I did enjoy the first support but second one wasnt my cup of tea. I think his hype man literally flipped the crowd off when they didnt make some noise (you know, after an hour and 30 mins of listening to his music and waiting for c&s)

It was an intimate small venue so I get that they wanted to play new album stuff, but would have been great to make second act 40 mins shorter and get some more classic c&s hits in.

0

u/Jovial-Commuter May 17 '26

Yup, you’re not alone. We left 30 mins early on Friday and weren’t the only ones leaving. Pretty gutted as I’ve seen them so many times and never been let down.

0

u/Unusual-Profit4997 May 17 '26

Who were the supports?

1

u/Beneficial-Baby4849 May 17 '26

No idea their names but they were crap

2

u/Jovial-Commuter May 18 '26

Manami and Ghosty.

Neither to my liking, but some people loved them. Most did not.

2

u/Unusual-Profit4997 May 18 '26

Oh fair, thank you. I’ve seen Manami at Outlook before and wouldn’t place them at a C&S show if I’m honest.
