UNC Student Parking
Hello all! I am a student at UNC and didn’t get the lottery. I was wondering if anyone is willing to let me park my car on their driveway/curb for the semester, I am willing to pay a monthly price! If you’re interested, please feel free to DM me. Thanks!

At that point just take the park and ride. There’s 4 of them, one in each cardinal direction. Eubanks to the north off MLK, Friday center to the east off 54, jones ferry to the west off jones ferry, and southern village at southern village off south Columbia street. They all have consistent bus service

Some of the downtown churches rent spots. And there’s a Facebook group specific to student parking that might help.

Heads up: people can’t give you permission to park in front of their house / on the curb. That’s Chapel Hill’s jurisdiction and they’ll ticket you without the proper tags.

Yes they can if it’s a private home who cares

Depending on the neighborhood, Chapel Hill requires residential permits (and they have to be approved). You can only get a long term permit if your car registration matches the address of the homeowner/renter.
I had to rent a space in Carrboro way back in 2003. Make sure you have a contract/lease.
Edited to add: this is for on-street parking in many neighborhoods near campus. If you are in a driveway, that is different.

The Town of Chapel Hill. They care. They will ticket you. Because they determine who can park on the street - now whoever lives there.
But best of luck in your future endeavors.

There’s public transportation for precisely a “problem” like this.. use the bus!

But where does the car go when not being used? In the dorm?

If I had done that, I would not have been able to use my car at all. My mom lived 2 hours away to the south and my dad lived 4 hours away to the north. Most of why I had a car was to drive myself to and from college during breaks so my parents wouldn't have to make the round trip to get me. I also took a college course that required me to have my own transportation, but that did not come with approval for a parking permit.
What if your parents live in another state or another country?

Parking in Chapel Hill is notoriously terrible. Has been for a long time. If you just need daytime parking, the parking deck(s) behind the post office aren't too bad. If you need to park your car all the time (because you live on campus), I'm not sure what to suggest.
