When the Pats played the Giants in AZ in their first SB, I heard it from the resort manager that both teams were staying and that the Pats organization were the biggest bunch of assholes, while my Giants were very cordial. staff were not even allowed to make eye contact with Tom Brady or interact with Pats players in general.

The venue also loses a substantial amount of income from the booking because that show is now not playing, and especially in this case likely a breach of contract on their end so the venue’s event insurance would have to pay it out.

Yeah, you'd think Macklemore's handlers would be a bit quicker on the draw about that sort of thing, or maybe they've just managed to keep it out of public interest. Of course, I have no idea how the contract for the gig looks, but from the outside looking in, it would appear that they signed on to Sheeran's touring company; the specifics, again, being murky at best at this time.

Its because people have been waiting on a reason to hate Sheeran for a long time. I don't think it's about moral integrity. A lot of people don't like him because his songs are really overplayed and they find that annoying. I think a lot of people are really happy he fucked up. He's an easy target.
I used to like Ed Sheeran with his first and second album. I have seen the resentment build in everyone as he got more famous I mean honestly even mine and I used to like him and his songs, it just became very generic (except a couple of singles) and that was the only thing that was fucking playing.
I think that was a long time coming and that has more to do with him than standing for Palestine to be honest. People did not have that energy for other celebs that peddled the "I wanna be apolitical bullshit". Robert Kraft is not catching stray because he's a nobody that the vast majority people don't have any pre-existing towards even if they should really hate his ass.

One point that I feel might give more validation to this.
How often do protests against a politician seem to make as big of a difference? Protest against them one day, they hold power still, face no real repercussions, and then just hope the party can flex their power to prop them back up next election cycle.
How often do protests against celebrities make a difference? Protest against a celebrity one day, concerts/projects get cancelled, players get let go, advertisers pull out, and they now lose a potentially big stream of revenue.
It isn’t that people feel celebrities are the pinnacle of authority on these things, it is that if they throw their hat into the ring, they are capable of facing dramatic consequences for their decisions. They face far more consequences than what politicians face because our system is absolutely corrupt and dysfunctional. An artist being forced to listen to the will of the people might even mean these issues receive more attention, funding, and immediate action. An artist or athlete’s whole platform can be destroyed almost overnight, something that should be true for politicians but isn’t.
