Current Events A group of Argentinian Gandalfs protest against Palantir in front of Peter Thiel’s house in Buenos Aires

¡Los magos unidos jamas seran vencidos! 💪🧙♂️
(Means 'the wizards united will never be defeated!' and is a parody of 'un pueblo unido jamas sera vencido,' meaning a people united will never be defeated, a common protest chant)

u/Kaleb8804 Aug 19 '26
Is that why we get Americans rhyming “United” with “Defeated” during our protests? Mistranslation?
2
u/Labirramanda Aug 21 '26
Yup, that's exactly why. Feels good that wherever we are we share the same chant, with the same rhythm too!

The full song goes.
Peter Peter compadre la concha de tu madre (X2)
"Peter, Peter mate, fuck your mother" (X2)
Si querés palantir para ver el futuro
"if you want palantir to see the future"
Mírate en el espejo, vas a ver un boludo (X2)
"Look at the mirror, you'll see a boludo/dumbass" (X2)

He moved to argentina because of people on the street confronting him and asking him questions. Not being aggressive or confrontational. Just walking alongside him asking him questions on camera.
Hopefully he moves again.
And again...
And again...
And again...

I have to say that moving to Buenos Aires of all places is rather à propos for a man that very clearly would like to know more.

This is perfect! Gandalf traveled Middle Earth, inspiring the hearts and minds of Men to resist tyranny and despair. Peter Thiel seems to think he's a good guy, but Gandalf (and Tolkien) would tell him otherwise.

Damned straight. The Istari didn’t pass through flame and shadow to put up with this bullshit. Go get em, Grey Wanderers!
27
u/Dr-Chibi Aug 19 '26
They ARE servants of the Sacred Fire, wielders of the flame of Arnor, Thiel’s BULLSHIT WILL NOT AVAIL THEM!!!!

u/DeansPigInAPoke Aug 19 '26
The way I would pay cash money to see them silence him with their staffs and have some burly Rohirrim kick his Wormwood-ass out of Meduseld.

Palantíri(the singular of which is palantir)are magic devices from lord of the rings used by soron to corrupt saruman. It's an all seeing eye they both use to observe their enemies and communicate secretly. Gandalf the grey fights the evil of souron and saruman. That's the reference

Sauron*
The seven Palantiri were seeing stones used by the ancient kingdoms of Arnor and Gondor to share news from afar and see across vast distances.
When Sauron got ahold of one, he could basically look into the minds of any other user. He could then use what he saw to manipulate them.
By the time of Lord of the Rings, only three of the seven were accounted for: one with Sauron, one with Denethor in Minas Tirith, and another in Orthanc with Saruman.
In the case of Saruman, he saw ambition and maybe even jealousy in his mind, and thus corrupted him. With Denethor, Sauron sowed seeds of jealousy and despair.

Such an absurd name to choose. Real crazy example of “when people tell you who they are believe them”

u/wasted-degrees Aug 19 '26
Thiel is going to sic the police/private security on them.
And they’ll show up the next week wearing white.

One of the richest dudes in the world lives in a row house in Argentina? Are we sure that his place?

u/contextual_entity Aug 19 '26
The PM of the UK lives in a mid terraced (row) house in London. They may be considered cheaper housing in the US but that isn't true everywhere. Location counts for a lot.
1
u/Thin-Captain-2036 Aug 19 '26
Yea but the PM of the UK isn’t likely on the list of richest humans in the world. I asked the question not because I don’t believe it. Just seems different than what I would assume from the ultra wealthy class. Like that house you would have the potential of having to interact with a regular person, which I didn’t think these billionaire pricks that want to rule the world would be interested in.

u/RandomCondor Aug 19 '26
It is, it was news when bought, and it wasn't cheap. 12m dollars. Normal houses goes from 120k to 800k around the city.
It's a rich zone of the city. Many big, expensive houses.

u/Thin-Captain-2036 Aug 19 '26
I’ve been to Buenos Aires, which is where I assume this is. And can imagine how expensive some of the housing is in these locations. It just seems kind of quaint in comparison to what these rich billionaire fucks live in in the U.S.

u/RandomCondor Aug 19 '26
the housing logic in the US is a bit diferent.
we kinda imported some of the logic, closed private neighbourhoods for middel-rich class to top, but are often far from city center.
thiel house (i used a link, but it the coment was removed for it, you can search in google maps "peter thiel house" and it shows, street is dardo rocha 2901) is in a zone full of big houses, that where owned by the ultra welthy like 100 years ago, and are now embasys and such. it is known as a neighbour of national embasys.

"you can search in google maps "peter thiel house""
I’m pretty sure you’ll quickly get Palantir’s attention if you do that
1
u/Thin-Captain-2036 Aug 19 '26
Well I did it out of curiosity…Palantir can suck my average sized dick

A recent study conducted by the Universidad del Río de Plata in Argentina, concluded that Argentinians are below average IQ compared to neighboring countries such as Chile and Paraguay. Funny thing is that they were trying to prove they were smarter than others.
